2017: The Worst year of Job creation since 2010

How about that Trump economy folks!

Job creation by year:

2017: 2,055,000
2016: 2,240,000
2015: 2,713,000
2014: 2,998,000
2013: 2,302,000
2012: 2,218,000
2011: 2,091,000
2010: 1,061,000

Overall wages increased by 2.5% between December 2016 and December 2017, which is barely above the rate of inflation.

Labor Participation Rate (which is what Majax and the FOX News gurus criticized so much during Obama) hasn't improved either. It dropped 3% over 8 years of Obama from 66% to 63%. Well it was 63.0% in February and it is still gradually dropping, currently at 62.7%.

What's the unemployment rate?

The closer you get to full employment, the harder it is to have increases in job creation.

Job participation continues to shrink because of baby boomers retiring.

4.1%, dropping as the LPR drops and more people retire.

Yep. But in the Right Wing universe, news that 40,000 jobs were created in June came as an amazing Trump accomplishment. It is as if they never knew tens of thousands and sometimes hundreds of thousands of jobs are usually created on a monthly basis. It tells you a lot of what their News sources have been sharing with them over the past 8 years.

Nope, but nice try. Public sector job growth has actually risen since Trump has been in office, but only by 20,000.

Just so I'm clear, apart from you ignoring the actual economic facts from the links you provided - you are now selectively attributing (a.k.a. cherry picking) which aspects of the current labor/economy are because of Trump and because of Obama.
Let me guess, now you're gonna tell us how insightful Bannon has suddenly become.

Why do you keep posting economic threads? Everyone has already recognized, on many occasions, your ineptitude on the topic.

I'm speculating here, but in some ways the 2017 economy seems to violate the general rule that individual Presidents do not have immediate impacts on national economics such that one can either directly blame them or credit them for it. Where Trump's 1st year seems to differ is that a Republican-controlled US seemed to drive forecasting of probable outcomes that got baked into the 2017 numbers...but weren't the product of actual action. The stock market boom that accelerated almost the day after the election is the most obvious example of this speculative rather than substantive behavior. If true, that could mean we are seeing economic behavior that had already anticipated everything from the tax bill to the yet-to-be-defined infrastructure program, entitlement negotiations, etc., etc., baked into the movement we saw this last year meaning that reality can only catch up to these expectations. We'll see if this is true, but if it is then there is a lot of risk hiding in the numbers now that are far more scary than labor participation or employment statistics.

The thing about the stock market boom is that every other major world economy is experiencing similar growth in stocks. In fact, the US market is slightly lagging the total international non-emerging market in index measures. You'd expect an increase in stock prices in 2017 due to anticipation of a lower corporate tax rate, which implies underlying growth in prices was sluggish against world benchmarks.

Bach has this trolly argument asking people how their 401k arguments are doing this year. There's some cheeky responses you can offer if you want to. Trump's years will not replicate Obama's in terms of growth simply because Obama took over at a catastrophic low. But the answer is great, though the international part of my portfolio is really what is sparkling.
