Groucho Marx, Phil Donahue, Art Linkletter, Merv Griffin, Arsinio Hall...Maybe someday this country will have the courage to take an unflinching look at the early days of talk TV, when there was the horrible notion that talk shows were not like governing. Think of all of the fine Presidents we passed over.

If Oprah does decide to run, do you think FAIRMormon could encourage Sista Soul and the Genesis group to speak out against her?

The game is screwed at that point, time to cash out. At that point it isn't about ideologies or whether the person occupying the White House is marginally an adult. We've moved on from doing democracy in an adult way as a society at that point.
Now that I've slept on this, I think you're overestimating political experience and underestimating Oprah's skills. It's not like there's a massive difference between her and say, pre-senator Al Franken (putting aside the sexual allegations, of course).
I suspect your annoyance with Drumpf has jaded you on anyone who's never governed before. Understandable, but overstated.

Hey Schmo,
It isn't about one person. It's about an executive branch that has and is going through a substantial brain drain as institutional knowledge has been dismissed as not only irrelevant but considered to be the problem to be solved. The Trump presidency isn't about one man occupying the White House but an ideal that is destroying entire departments with abandon. The accounts by Obama staffers waiting for their Trump counterparts to attend briefings and be brought up to speed on everything from international relations to the EPA to homeland security, only to have no one show or one person with an arrogance and inattention is the stuff history writes about in hindsight as, "And this is when crap went downhill..."
We can not tolerate the idea that entertainers and business people are defacto fit to govern. “F” that. “F” that. “F” that. No side is inherently better fit such that their entertainers and businesspeople could step in and do it right. The people are gone or leaving who would be necessary to rebuild after Trump and to bring in an inexperience rebuilder with all the right traits doesn't solve that.
You and those talking up Oprah aren't seeing the full picture, and that is very much part of the problem, too.
“F” no to entertainers and business people taking on the job of replacing Trump.
“F” no, 2020.
ETA: To put it in a different light, consider that the so-called dark ages weren't a time when European civilization reverted back to pre-iron age societies. Instead, the changes and shifts in society resulted in the loss of knowledge, know-how, and ability from the classic civilizations of Greece and Rome that the people who came after lived amongst but no longer could recreate nor really comprehend. We refer to the rediscovery of this knowledge, preserved by a different culture that frankly was doing it better, as the enlightenment for a reason. The effect of dismantling American democracy to follow-up with a rebuilder who lacks the actual knowledge that was removed is the kind of action that leads to irretrievable cultural losses. I don't care how awesome Oprah is. We need to reinstall what Trump has dumped from the executive branch and that requires people with retained institutional knowledge before it's gone forever. My vote in 2020 will be largely based on finding a candidate who understands this.

Actually, we refer to that as the Renaissance. Age of Reason/Enlightenment was about 2+ centuries later. But, please, you were posturing about how top shelf your vote will be...

Yep, you're right. I messed up in my hastily added coda to my original post. Thanks for the correction.

I am commenting on how voting for celebrities for President in the 2020 election is more consequential than it being just a contest between two individuals. And it will certainly play a prominent place in my decision making when vetting candidates. Call it whatever you want, subby. The facts behind it stand.

Perhaps that is what the electorate is craving. After Trump, Sean Hannity might be the next Republican pick.
