Hey, whatever Trump wants. He's CEO of America. He owns us. He's our lord and master, just look at the bootlicking worship by "USA" chickenhawks, that's what we should all be doing. Be grateful, peasants.

There's a comedy show out called This Is Not Happening that includes an episode with Tom Green of late '90's MTV fame. Wasn't a fan of his and don't consider myself one now, but I admit that there is something surrealistically genius in his storytelling about his time on the Celebrity Apprentice that relies on the simple trope of always referring to Trump as "The President of the United States" while doing so.

My concern is that it puts a huge target on them for potential terrorist attacks. Right now, somewhere, there are people just waiting for something like this to happen. They've had to settle for marathons and large gatherings but they'd absolutely love to take out dozens of military personnel with a bomb.
I go to the airshows here at Dobbins AFB every once in a while, but that's more a celebration of aviation and less to do with military. It is also a secured area and doesn't break the bank.
So we should not have a military parade becasue we don't want to entice a terrorist ?
We should not have a military parade on his demand because the military is not a toy--unless you're a tyrant. And you know what they say about tyrants, Markk?

Common, those that have selflessly served with courage and skill in past and current conflicts deserve a parade for their sacrifice, I'll stand with Trump in his call for a parade to honor our veterans and heroes.
Why can't our elected officials call for a parade?

That's not what he called for. He wants a dick-waving event to out do the French. It's what he said, bro. "I want a parade like the one in France."

Why should they? Why is Trump calling for a parade? I am curious as to Trump's real motivation. His past history doesn't suggest he has had much respect for the military.

Beschloss points to the 1950s, when Dwight D. Eisenhower was president and Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev presided over large military parades showing off the latest in Soviet military might. Beschloss says some in the White House approached Eisenhower, himself a decorated military general, suggesting the U.S. do the same, to show off American might.
"Eisenhower said absolutely not, we are the pre-eminent power on Earth," Beschloss says, recalling Eisenhower's response. "For us to try to imitate what the Soviets are doing in Red Square would make us look weak."
You've been around. You know that the guys acting tough, aren't.
Again, you seem to be doing a lot of lifting for the President that he isn't articulating himself. Some of his representatives are putting on touches to the public messaging that is more aware of how bad a look it is to want to wave America's dick around because the President saw the French doing something similar. But the President himself is not asking for this to honor the troops. As I posted above, I'm betting your friend is rightly feeling the vets of our most recent wars are deserving of public recognition. I'd agree that they do. I don't think the evidence is that this is what Trump himself intended. Perhaps it will become this, but the bone spur draft dodger seems to want to be honored. In that light, it seems to be exactly the opposite of what you think it is.

He wants something like Bastille Day. He's trying to keep up with the French. Come on indeed.

Actually my last post above was a experiment...I edited a quote from New York Mayor Bill de Blasio...
In 2014, Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., called for a welcome home ticker-tape parade for veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, calling it a “longstanding American tradition.”
“With the war in Afghanistan winding down, now is the time to keep with longstanding American tradition and kick off a campaign for the first New York City welcome home parade for troops that served in Iraq and Afghanistan,” Schumer, now the Senate minority leader, said, according to The New York Daily News.
…
But Schumer wasn’t the only Democrat who once backed a military parade.
Liberal New York Mayor Bill de Blasio backed Schumer’s call at the time, saying the Big Apple would proudly host such an event:
“The brave men and women who have selflessly served our nation with courage and skill in Iraq and Afghanistan deserve a recognition for their sacrifice,” de Blasio said. “I stand with Senator Schumer in his call for a parade to honor our veteran heroes, and New York City would be proud to host this important event.”
Are these two tyrants also?
