Trump directly said he is willing to take guns away, and there is no outrage? GOP tried to eviscerate Obama for even saying the word "gun" and now there precious commodity is being taken away from a Republican President, and everyone is ho hum? Interesting......
And it's fascinating that BIG businesses, Dicks Sporting Goods and now Wal-Mart are not going to sell guns to anyone under 21 (raising the age themselves) and no longer selling assault rifles.
The kids are gettin things done it appears to me. Congress? Not so much.......

They’ve got their masters at the NRA to worry about.

You've heard the expression 'Only Nixon could go to China."? I think something of the same thing is going on here.
One thing I hope happens this year is that the level of paranoia about gun control is reduced. Banning assault rifles and semi-automatic weapons doesn't mean disarming the country. People will still have handguns, rifles and shotguns for self-defense. I haven't heard any politician suggest banning those items.
I think moderate Republicans in purple states might actually be able to do something, if they have the cajones.

I think companies trying to distance themselves from the NRA and making moves like Dick's is the truest indication of public opinion you can get. That's market competition. It would appear these companies think more people want the NRA out of our lives than don't.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.
