The conversation, which she taped, and its 76-page transcript was released by a website called MormonLeaks run by a former member of the LDS Church. The woman told the Deseret News Monday that the tape was released without her permission. The Deseret News typically does not release the identity of alleged victims of sexual assault.

Doesn't that website pretty much rely on people sending them information?
ETA: With her having a lawyer, I'm not sure why either her or the lawyer would send something to Mormonleaks. I mean, what did they think was going to happen sending a tape and transcript to a place called Mormonleaks?

Trimble, you ignorant sack of rhinoceros puss. The only thing more obvious than your lack of education is the foul stench that surrounds you.
told leaders of the Pleasant Grove Utah West Stake that she had been sexually assaulted by the president of the Provo Missionary Training Center, Joseph Bishop, 25 years earlier. They listened carefully to the claims being made and then this was immediately reported to the Pleasant Grove Police Department....
From the police department, link in Sammy Jenkins' post:
"The woman contacted the church leaders. She made threats she could possibly hurt someone.... We never investigated the alleged abuse.."
Wow. So what exactly was reported to the police? The church clearly implies the sexual abuse was reported, the police seem to say it was just the death threat.
There was an interview by a former bishop on the Mormon Mental Health podcast, his comments put the above press release statement in an interesting light. From the Intro to the podcast:
[The former bishop, speaking anonymously,] shares his experience with the church “hotline” that is supposed to help in these situations… and is very clear about the expectations members should have (or not have) when it comes to the system that is currently in place....
His main message to listeners throughout the podcast is to gain a clear understanding of the legalities involved and how the church is in [and] of itself a legal entity and will act as such ....
Therefore, make sure that as a victim or as a parent of a victim you are contacting appropriate authorities and resources… and not rely on the church to be a player in solving these issues.

Maybe someone in COB leaked it? Someone at Kirton McConkie?

Just saw this. I guess it wasn't her team that sent it to Mormonleaks...
MormonLeaks™ Statement Regarding the Publication of Joseph L. Bishop Audio Recording
The following is concerning the publication of an audio recording of former Mission President, Joseph L. Bishop, admitting to inappropriate relations with women.
MormonLeaks™ deeply values the privacy of victims of sexual assault. We prepared the recording of Joseph L. Bishop while coordinating information between multiple sources, none of whom were the accuser and it was received with no restrictions of publication. We verified its authenticity and found it to be in line with our mission of “starting and expanding news reporting, public commentary, and criticism related to Mormonism” given Bishop’s blatant on tape admission to inappropriate behavior while in a leadership position within the Mormon Church. We eliminated all identifying information related to the victim, as is standard protocol, in order to protect her privacy and safety.

I heard it was a bunch of DP videos .... you know ... of Daniel Peterson testifying about limited geography
"Religion is about providing human community in the guise of solving problems that don’t exist or failing to solve problems that do and seeking to reconcile these contradictions and conceal the failures in bogus explanations otherwise known as theology." - Kishkumen
This story is on pins and needles pending further revelations or accusations from other women. We have yet to hear if other women were abused by Bishop at the MTC. Will other women step forward and let their voices be heard? There has never been a better political environment whereby abused women can now step forward and be heard.
Same goes for Weber State College. Are there any women there that were abused or perhaps sexually harassed? We may see a whole bunch of women stepping forward in the coming days ahead. If this happens, they will bury this man and the church will not be able to spin it. The church will take a hit and come out and make new promises of improving the system with so-called checks and balances.

We shall see.
Unless this hits national news, it is not likely that other victims will hear a word about any of this. We are part of a pretty obscure group.
