I am trying to make the point of- so what.... With this simple question, If you were to have a modern, mainstream Christian believer explain that they don't believe everything in the Bible is literal, and the parts as to stoning bad guys is certainly written by men, would you still demand they denounce Jesus?
Yeah, I'm with you on besmirching the hardliners, but I think you're fishing with too big of a net.
The answer I am looking for is either YES or No. I asked a simple question and it deserves a simple answer. Let the chips fall where they will.
Your question - " Knowing what one knows right now if a Christian could go back in time and live with Moses and adopt into his tribe would they follow his religion and obey his laws?"
My answer - "the time traveler would have to adapt or die- be stoned themselves." I intended for this to qualify as a 'yes'.
What are your thoughts on my Question? "If you were to have a modern, mainstream Christian believer explain that they don't believe everything in the Bible is literal, and the parts as to stoning bad guys is certainly written by men, would you still demand they denounce Jesus?"

I think they would join the trek past the Red Sea then turn east to the Silk Road or the nearest Turkish coffee bar. No reason to stumble around aimlessly in the wilderness for forty years when there are sights to see.

This is why I like THE PENGUIN.
Turn East after passing the Red Sea (Reed Sea=Yam Suph) to the Silk Road... then find the nearest Turkish coffee bar.
A cheerful travel during I would see the elephants... The Silk Road... The Turkish coffee bar... Really, I've seen many of them after THAT war... (Much of?)
THEN MY QUESTION IS (I like the Penguin)
Is this comment one to move AS blatant derailment or isn't is?
Your opinion, penguin ? ?
I know of nothing poorer Under the sun, than you, you Gods! ... Should I honour you? Why?

I think of it as merely a pause to reflect and smell the Turkish coffee. Plus as an answer, it would suggest that Christians can be simultaneously pragmatic, adventuresome, and accepting of both Jersey Girl and Shulem.
Incidentally, I am one of your fans as well. Is there something equivalent to Thai iced coffee in your part of the world?
Laugh it up. You know very well, a guy has a right to change his mind and I've decided not to represent your views about your independence or dependence on your imaginary Jesus. Therefore, we will allow it to remain a mystery.

Jesus was just as guilty as Moses in that he reserved the people of Sodom and Gomorrah for judgment presumably because homosexuality was practiced there. Jesus was cut from the same cloth as Moses but reorganized the cult of Jehovah. Jesus was a big fan of Moses too. Look who Jesus kept company with:
"And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus."
Indeed, Jesus was into Moses. The executions of gays as recorded in the Bible under the direction of Jehovah God didn't bother Jesus one bit. He must have figured they deserved condemnation just like Sodom. Jesus never ever did anything to defend gays.
Shulem wrote: Jesus never ever did anything to defend gays.
You're absolutely right, Shulem. Dirty Jesus didn't do a damn thing for gay people. He lumped them into Jehovah's pile of condemnation whereby the gays deserve judgment -- or worse, death. Then there was St. Paul, the bastard apostle of Christianity (apostate Judaism) who hated gays just as much as Moses did:
"In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. . . . that those who do such things deserve death" (Romans 1 NIV)
Screw you, St. Paul and screw you too, Jesus -- you bastards.
