I wouldn't go so far as to say people who use cellphones as a counterpoint in gun safety regulation debates are absurd and irrational, but I can understand why you and others would see them that way.

Why would a person try to draw an unthinking corollary between the two?

Because guns can be used for good and not just evil. Cell phones can be used for evil and not just good.

How are AR-15 and other semi-automatic rifles used for good? Makes no sense.
I would be all for a cell phone ban if you can show cell phones do more harm than good.

The cell phone analogy is spot on. It certainly is an affront to all of humanity when a cell phone goes off wantonly in a crowded movie theater. Only good people with cell phones can stop calling bad people with cell phones.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

Is this a serious question?

How is a weapon, any weapon or object that can be used as a weapon, used for good?
You really don't know that answer?

What if I can prove to you guns do more good than harm?
Here you go:

200,000 up to 3 Million lives are SAVED by guns every year.
Only 40,000 die by guns from all causes, some 60% of which are Suicide.
Tell me, which is doing more good and which is doing more harm?

Now, multiply that, imagine most people had guns. Yes, more would die from all causes, but also FAR MORE would be saved.

My at minimum 200,000 beats your 40,000.
Gun control would kill my 200,000. But I thought you all wanted to save lives?

Imagine if the British had outlawed muskets except for the royal red coat army. How would the revolutionary war have turned out if the colonists had to use pikes to fight the battles? Would you say the muskets used to fight the British in the revolutionary war were ued for a good thing?
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

but i don't see it that way....the point was the how your position echoes the same irrational and unreasonable argument as the cell phone argument inasmuch as you don't have any real basis for your position other than the emotion du jour.

Lol. Subfaps makes his glorious return to the boards only to show us all that he still doesn't know or understand the meanings of common words like "prove", "facts", "moral", "high" or "ground". He also doesn't seem to have gained any additional understanding of how things like simple numbers and basic statistics work but, I don't think anyone expected any better. Same sh$%, different day...
