Gary Oldman won Best Actor at the Academy Awards. But for some entertainment fans, the 59-year-old actor’s win marks the “Darkest Hour” of the #metoo era.
Social media users are resurrecting allegations from Oldman’s ex-wife in 2001. The Daily Beast reported that she said Oldman hit her “in the face with the telephone receiver three or four times.” (Oldman has denied these allegations.)
“Strange that Gary Oldman didn’t thank his publicist for keeping all of those domestic violence assault allegations from getting too much coverage this awards season,” writes film blogger Jon Adams.
“Why don’t they ask Gary Oldman about hitting his ex-wife in the face with a telephone? That seems relevant,” tweets writer Roxane Gay.
So, what are we up to now? Two Oscar winners having been accused of savaging women at some point? What in the world is going on with Liberals? Very violent.

You Hypocrite. Take a look at yourself in the mirror.
Excerpt about Cosby's behavior during closing arguments. I think this is telling as all hell. But that's just me.
NORRISTOWN, Pa. — Disgraced comedian Bill Cosby smiled Tuesday during prosecutor’s closings in his sex assault case, invoking the wrath of a plucky prosecutor who noticed the smirk.
“He’s laughing like it’s funny,” Montgomery County prosecutor Kristen Feden said, gesturing to Cosby as his grin slipped from his face. “There’s nothing funny about stripping a women of her capacity to consent.
“There’s nothing funny about that, Mr. Cosby,” Feden bellowed at the 80-year-old as he sunk into his chair.
The former pudding pitchman’s ill-timed expression came after the assistant DA told jurors Cosby repeatedly manipulated his role as “America’s Dad” to gain the trust of unsuspecting women in order to drug and sexually assault them.
“This man is nothing like the image he played on TV,” Feden yelled as she stomped across the well to stand inches from a terrified-looking Cosby. “He is nothing like ‘America’s Dad.'”
Feden continued to shout as her extended finger hovered in front of Cosby’s face. The legally blind actor sat rigidly in his chair, eyes glassy and bugging, as she called him a “con” who used his award-winning role as Dr. Cliff Huxtable to “gain the confidences of these young, aspiring, trusting women so he could sexually assault them.”
There is something particularly creepy about the avuncular lovable character whose Doctor Hyde side is that much more viscous in juxtaposition with Doctor Huxtable.
One of the fascinating things for me to observe is Camille Cosby. For decades she has been living on a private pleasure barge provided by her husband, floating down the biggest effing river in Egypt. She is the Queen of Denial.

I do not understand how Cosby being found guilty of only three counts of aggravated indecent assault against one woman when measured against a total of about 60 accusers justifies an all caps exclamation. I don't see this as even being that beneficial to the feeble civil cases that will follow.

what part of "acting" seems to always have people assume that an actor is somehow a manifestation of the character(s) they pretend to play in order to secure advertising dollars?

The same part of acting that led people to believe Donald Trump was qualified to be President.
