Oh and Hannity's other...because Trump paid Cohen out of his own pocket, it doesn't have anything to do with the campaign fund.

I honestly don't know how that works.

I agree with you wholeheartedly except that I never for one minute suffered from the delusion that there was a reasonable probability that he would ever fulfill our hopes that he would prove to be either a competent or ethical President, let alone both honest and competent.

Watching Hannity interview Rudy Giuliani is illustrative of the difference between a journalist and an enabler. After Rudy cheerfully admits to payments and said Trump knew about it, Trump cautions him, saying that hasn't been the White House story in the past.

The attorney for the President of the United States has just admitted his client had not been truthful with respect to statements made about a porn star. A journalist's next question would have been to follow up. "So when Cohen made the payments, he didn't get anything directly in response, he was just paid in installments as a retainer?", something along those lines. You make the guy feel comfortable, you don't warn him that he's making news.

Hannity's first instinct was to warn Giuliani and protect the President.

not that the hair fires aren't funny but from the OP link.

Personal gifts and loans
If any person, including a relative or friend of the candidate, gives or loans the candidate money “for the purpose of influencing any election for federal office,” the funds are not considered personal funds of the candidate even if they are given to the candidate directly. Instead, the gift or loan is considered a contribution from the donor to the campaign, subject to the per-election limit and reportable by the campaign. This is true even if the candidate uses the funds for personal living expenses while campaigning.

Yes, but I think that you also should have highlighted the "for the purpose of influencing any election for federal office". I think there's a strong case to make for that considering the timing of the payout to Ms. Daniels, but that's the critical issue that needs to be proven.

The 130K also exceeds the allowable amount, a fact that was brought up early on.

Stay tuned...

Did you ever in your life think that one day you might be able to say that you place more faith in the integrity of a porn star than you do your own President?

It's true. In the old days it was simple. You put a gal on your payroll that couldn't type and took her out to 'dinner' a couple of times a month.

Nowadays it's a lot more complicated, so the public needs to be educated on the intricacies of Non-disclosure Agreements that 'are very common among celebrities and people of wealth.' I think of the quote from The Great Gatsby:

They were careless people, Tom and Daisy- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.

Careless people need people like Michael Cohen. Only wealthy careless people can afford him.

Iv'e said it before and I'll say it again, you want to see what Joseph Smith and his followers looked like in Nauvoo, just look at Trump and his defenders. Trump has his Stormy Daniels and Karen Mcdougal, Joseph Smith had his Nancy Rigdon and Miranda Hyde. Trump has his Jame Comey and Steve Bannon, Joseph Smith had his J.C. Bennett and William Law. Trump's followers are willing to swallow any explanation for giving a porn star $130K and Joseph Smith's followers outright reject any negative story about Joseph Smith.

The parallels are striking.

Next I expect Trump to appoint himself Lieutenant General and review a military parade in uniform.

Meanwhile faithful LDS continue to defend him regardless of his complete lack of a moral compass.

And now Trump is throwing Giuliani under the bus. Here's Trump's latest response to the same reporter who asked him before if they had paid Daniels.

"And Rudy, we love Rudy, a special guy, he really understands that this is a witch hunt. He understands that probably better than anybody ... But when he made certain statements, he just started yesterday. So that's it

Rudy is "special" lol

Full exchange between Trump and the reporter

Trump: "We're not changing any stories. All I’m telling you that this country is right now running so smooth and to be bringing up that kind of crap and bringing up witch hunts all the time. That’s all you want to talk about."

Reporter: "You said on Air Force One that you did not know anything about the payments?"

Trump: "Excuse me, excuse me. You take a look at what I said. You go back and take a look. You’ll see what I said."

Reporter: "You said no when I asked you about the payment."

Trump: "Excuse me, you go take a look at what we said."
