Acting ICE director Thomas Homan, without any sense of irony, tells Tucker Carlson that he objects to people comparing ICE to Nazis because they "are simply enforcing laws enacted by Congress."

I saw that and had to resist a spit take. Clearly, he's never heard of the Nuremberg defense. Asshole.

That happened shortly after the 2016 election and had primarily to do with Republican voter suppression efforts adding to the US's already present flaws. Of note, this categorization isn't the subjective opinion of an editorial, but rather the result of a formula that's been used for some time to analyze how democratic different nations are.

and how do you imagine this mold will get made?

has no one here been paying attention for the last 2 years?...what happens during a massive Lib/Democrat outrage and media blitz of hair fires?

I'm completely comfortable with how LDS will define "rational", "compassionate", and "solution"....and I'll bet its nowhere near your definition.

You're quoting me saying something I did not say. You can ask the LDS church what their "rational, compassionate solutions" are. And I agree that any solution they could come up with would be far more compassionate than what Trump has in mind. The LDS church does at least have an ounce of empathy for the downtrodden.

I would like to think that we're finally seeing an overreach with accountability...but I've thought that before and we're still marching into madness.

He's backed down, and thus admitted what pretty well everybody has been saying: that he has always had the power to end the separation of parents and children mandated by his 'zero tolerance' policy whenever he wanted to. He signs an executive order, and it's done.

So it was a lie (frequently repeated by Trump) that it was all down to the Democrats to end the separation of children from their parents, wasn't it?

Wow, Trump tells a lie? Tell me it isn't so!!

Donald Trump to end his family separation policy – live updates

17:30
Sitting in the White House cabinet room, Donald Trump announced he will sign an executive order to end family separation.

Trump said: “We’re looking to keep families together. Very important. We’re going to be signing an executive order. We are also going to count on Congress, obviously, but we are signing an executive order in a little while. We’re going to keep families together but we still have to maintain toughness or our country will be overrun by people, by crime, by all of the things that we don’t stand for and that we don’t want.

So I’m going to be signing an executive order in a little while before I go to Minnesota but, at the same time, I think you have to understand, we’re keeping families together but we have to keep our borders strong. We will be overrun with crime and with people that should not be in our country.”

Trump said that if immigration policies didn’t change “millions” of people would flood the border.

From 1 Oct 2017 to 31 May 2018, more than 252,000 people were apprehended at the border, according to US Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
