Well, it's good that you held back from a four-letter characterisation there ... I admire your restraint.

What, you are expecting Trump to deal with the consequences of his own actions? That would be ... UnPresidential!
From what I read, there is a good chance that a lot of kids will stay in US custody for quite a while after their parents have been deported.

Thanks, Steuss. I'll want to read through this again.
Another question. Does anyone know if the hospital style bracelets the detained children are wearing in the Texas converted Walmart shelter, link them to their parents or adults with whom they crossed?
I observed that the children were wearing bracelets, I've seen nothing regarding the bracelets in any report.

Nice to see that you promote declining standards on this issue, subs. It’s too bad that the adults are no longer in charge.
Yeah this reminds me of everything Conservatives were accusing Obama of in his first year when he'd remind people he inherited his situation. Meanwhile they were bitching and moaning about the economy, blaming him for every little thing about it, and insisting he was a horrible President for not ending the recession in a few months time. Horrible leadership they said. Blaming others they said.
Trump said: “We’re looking to keep families together. Very important. We’re going to be signing an executive order. We are also going to count on Congress, obviously, but we are signing an executive order in a little while. We’re going to keep families together but we still have to maintain toughness or our country will be overrun by people, by crime, by all of the things that we don’t stand for and that we don’t want..

One of the ironies of Trump's stated concern that our country will be overrun by crime because of those immigrants is that even undocumented immigrants have a much lower crime rate than native born Americans.
According to the graph in the article, even undocumented immigrants have less than half the crime rate of native born Americans, overall, and legal immigrants have even less than that. I doubt that Trump would care even the tiniest bit about that, even if he knew it (which he very likely does not, nor would care care to learn about).
Furthermore:
States with larger shares of undocumented immigrants tended to have lower crime rates than states with smaller shares in the years 1990 through 2014. "Increases in the undocumented immigrant population within states are associated with significant decreases in the prevalence of violence," authors Michael T. Light and Ty Miller found.
No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

That would conflict with a 2015 court order — which means lawsuits would be imminent.
Yep. The executive order is not a fix. A family will sue for release after 20 days, and will win. The lawyers will get a nationwide injunction. And we’ll be right back to where we are today — Trump saying he’s forced to separate children from parents and Congress has to fix it.

"declining" is a matter of opinion, and a mob doth not make that opinion a "fact".

It seems to me that it's perfectly clear that the children who are already separated are not covered by the executive order (unless they are grandfathered in) and the executive order itself isn't going to fly without legal challenge.
Meanwhile, infants, toddlers, and preschoolers who were abruptly separated from their parents or relatives continue to suffer the developmental consequences of that abrupt separation in the most developmentally critical years of their lives.
Let's call it what it is. Gov't sponsored child abuse and torture, that holds children hostage for the price of a wall that America was promised would be funded by Mexico.
If I am not mistaken the UN Council on Human Rights has already described it as a crime.
While adults are busy playing political games with the children's future, there are infants who will never breastfeed again and all infants are being fed formula with no health history. Certainly there are toddlers and preschoolers who are without health histories that indicate food allergies, diagnoses, who are going without needed medication or who are being medicated without benefit of that very same health history. Who has been immunized, against what, and who has not? Have preschoolers who succeeded at toileting, regressed? Are there enough diapers and spare clothing? Is anyone sleeping?
It's all guesswork. Their care is a crapshoot.
They don't know where they are. They literally do not know who they are. And the very thing that identified and defined them as belonging to someone (a parent) or something (a family), has been taken from them without notice or time to adjust.
It's not a matter of the rug being pulled out from under them. It's a matter of removing the very foundation on which they defined life, themselves, the world and their place in it. Imagine walking out of your front door tomorrow only to fall into an abyss. That's where the young children are right now. They have fallen into a psychological and emotional abyss, and with no hope of rescue for what amounts to eternity for them.
They've effectively been rounded up and taken as prisoners of Trump's ego war with the Democratic Party.
