There's something else there too, I think. And that is that he is a bully and a coward. He felt able to insult the person in front of him because he is a fairly muscly guy, and she is a woman.

I suspect that he would have been much less likely to have made that gesture to a man of equal strength, had the confrontation been one-on-one rather than in front of a crowd of other cowardly bullies like the one shown in the picture.

I suspect you got about the response to your post that you were expecting and I'm not sure I have much to add about the Prager piece. I think I would like to touch on a question you asked another poster:

Like Honor I don't fear conservatism in the least bit, I even find myself occasionally agreeing with both libertarian and conservative thinkers (blame the centrist in me I guess). I do find that the current GOP playbook to be highly destructive to the continued success of our two-party system and lament that Democrats are essentially forced into playing the same way just to survive. I find the President to be toxic waste on the political landscape and discourse in our country. I know I'm not alone in this either, there is a reason many conservatives have begun advocating voting against the GOP (see the links for just a couple of examples).

You know I've never once labeled you a nazi, or homophobic or any of the other epithets you listed in your OP. That said, I still hope for a day when you (and a lot of the other conservatives in my life) can see that the party that often is getting your vote doesn't currently espouse the positions I suspect you hold dear and that by the very strategies they utilize to retain power they are unwinding the fabric of our democracy.

Was the lady in the picture jailed for refusing to obey the law and do her job, which was issuing marriage licenses?

If I recall rightly, she started refusing to issue marriage licenses to anybody, as a means to avoid issuing them to same-sex couples, as the law required. A judge ordered her to do her job, she refused, and so (surprise) she went to Jail.

What else should the judge have done? Baked her a cake? Elected officials don't get to choose which laws the obey and which they don't. If you don't want to obey the law, then of course you are free to resign.
