I'm convinced this is true of a large percentage of his base. I've met a few of them.
It's not that surprising. What kind of character do you have to have to believe Drumpf is acceptable for public office? What kind of character do you have to have to feel any kind of admiration for him at all?
Compulsive liars are worthless people. What good is someone you have no reason to trust?
Yeah, compulsive liars are worthless people. And I agree that Trump's hardcore base gets off on his crazy behavior. Their life goals are different than ours. They want to watch US Institutions burn. Trump is taking down the deep state for them.

Though I take a little comfort from the fact that this hardcore base is a minority, I still can't help being both appalled and alarmed by how sizeable and intractable a minority it is. Before Trump's election, I would not have believed that any more than a tiny percentage of the American populace would have shown themselves to be so appallingly irrational and ignorant.

Read Kurt Andersen's book. We've always been this skullfuked.
His handlers did correct his mistake but he insists Wisconsin is the correct answer because it makes him better than Reagan. The truth doesn't fit Trump's alternate reality. This is a possibility.
in my opinion, that is the most likely explanation.
