You guys are so smug you can't see just how insanely inept and useless your arguments are. By your logic, the GOP also hates White people because they're attempting to limit Democrats from voting through gerrymandering. You want so badly for this to be about racism, and it's really about winning votes, even though none of you could answer some simple questions. You STILL can't explain how winning a few hundred votes, at best, was a good ROI for the Kemp campaign. I mean, by all means keep on trucking with your assertions, but you've completely lost your minds.

Anyway, you're just so in the tank with this racism thing you're missing the point completely. You would've been better off sticking to the GOP's national strategy instead of trying to make this about Bl4cK P03pLe kiNt VoT3! It's weird and, well, dumb.

He is making progress, though. His last post, for all it's problems, shows movement even if he is clearly not paying attention to what is being said. For example, from last Saturday -

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=49708&start=210

It's legit concern over attempts to suppress Democrat votes on the part of the Republican majority. And they do this by targeting a racial demographic that votes largely for Democrats. As EAllusion pointed out, the fact a person who is black has to worry about the government trying to steal their vote is the kind of discrimination you and I don't worry about. See all the other stuff in this thread for reference. Ceebs came out against the concept of voter suppression right out of the gate to his credit.

So, he's a week late and hasn't figured out what he's actually arguing against but he's slowing connecting the dots.

Note Honor's link does NOT take it to his highlighted portion, and he attempts to pass the highlighted portion off as if it's something I said. That's pretty low. Typical, but low nonetheless. I wouldn't, of course, expect the backslapping Liberals on this thread to actually call him out on this tactic. Or was he just too dumb to understand what he was doing?

Also note how logically inconsistent the backpatting Leftists are on this thread:

- Do they care about disabled people getting to the polling station? No. They clearly give less than two craps. It never even occurred to them that perhaps disabled people are being targeted because the buildings weren't ADA compliant? Clearly Kemp hates disabled people! Or not! Or maybe! Who cares if the buildings are compliant or not!

- When they smugly point out that I said disabled people who are too inconvenienced to go to another polling station, can vote using mail-in ballots, it doesn't occur to their race addled brains Black people can do the same. They think Blacks can't go to different polling stations or use mail-in ballots because they're too dumb to figure it out. Talk about smug, paternalistic, bull crap.

- When their race addled brains absolutely lost their crap over the notion that Blacks could vote at a Sheriff's office because of fears of violence, they couldn't fathom that it was actually Black on Black crime that was the issue. Their mucked up brains wanted to believe the Klan was standing around with nooses in hand suppressing the Black vote. I mean, the board Leftists are absolutely cartoonish at this point.

- They don't care about White, Hispanic, or Asian voters. It's always about Black voters, which really says something about them. For example, the 380,000 people, who they apparently think are cool to vote even if they haven't updated their registration to actually demonstrate the district they live in, which is voter fraud, wasn't broken down by racial demographics, but they just make the assumption it was done with malice, and they imply it was targeting Blacks.

So. What they don't see, and what they can't tolerate, is their tactic of race-baiting every issue, every political race, is, in of itself, suptemely racist, paternalistic, and transparent. People see through it, but they don't think people are onto them. People are though, but they're too damned daft to drop it and argue the virtues of voting Democrat. This is an object lesson on dirty politics, and it's what led people to vote for Trump. damned dumb craps just can't help themselves, and they wonder why they lose electios...

eta: I do feel the need to add another point. Honor and presumably the other race-addicted fart sniffing Leftists on this board probably took my acknowledgement of the GOP's national strategy on gerrymandering as contradicting myself on their motivations to suppress Black voters.

Absolutely not.

The GOP understands that socio-economics, but really just economics, drives voter habits. Poor people generally vote Democrat, with the exception of rural White America (but I think that has more to do with their faith and the 2nd Amendment than wYt3s h8 Bl4ck P30pl3!). I think the attempt to gerrymander, not just in Georgia, but across our country, is a political evil and we need to make the districts fair, less biased, and it's, in my opinion, about income.

But, hey, don't let that stop you guys! Reality doesn't mean anything to you, anyway!

I think I should also note that I'm fairly confident that I'm the only Democrat on this board that actually does anything regarding gerrymandering (here in Utah) and helping all people that were within my sphere of influence to vote. During my time in service not did I assist in helping my enlisted folks register if they were absentee types, but also ensured the local Soldiers were registered, gave them time off to go vote, and have to show me their "I Voted" stickers when they did. This included AAs, women, and well, everyone else.

I would hope the activists on this board do more than just sit around griping about manufactured nonsense, and can state they're helping to shape the political processes where they live. I mean, I doubt it, but that's my hope, regardless.

eta: Lest any Hispanics aren't feeling the love, I should note that I volunteered to be the 'minority' community outreach on our community council and was successful in getting our mailers and brochures translated into Spanish and included as a dual-language informational. I also work with the local community organizer to work issues that affect our neighborhood, which in SLC is the most heavily populated by Spanish speakers, and have successfully brought change that directly affects everyone's lives.

While I haven't posted anything for a few days in the thread, I have been reading along.

Well, the last few pages of this thread has been a rather strange read. Voting suppression was introduced to the thread (Personally, I am happy to hear that the polling stations in Georgia will remain open) this triggered ("triggered" was intended) contributions like Jim Crow, lynchings and repeated posts about the possibility of a first black female governor of Georgia. The laser like focus that one of the candidates is black and female just might be the very reason that this thread has recently taken the path that it has.

Just imagine if this black female candidate also happened to be gay? We would have a race/gender/sexual preference trifecta against oppressions! This would be the ultimate rallying cry for the engine that is currently running and driving the democratic party (The leftists are in power and their narrative is loud and crystal clear - with no competing voices at this time. The liberals/moderates, by and large, have lost their political voices and they find themselves in a variety of very awkward political positions. What should/can these liberals/moderates do? I don't know but if ever found myself aligned with the democratic party, I would speak a whole lot about democratic policies and how these policies would help the citizens in this country - and how these democratic policies, should they win at the ballot boxes, will bring benefit to America as well as all of the American citizens who find themselves fortunate enough to counted among the American populous ("American Privilege") . Also, and perhaps most importantly, I would stop with all the constant race baiting, all the racial animus stoking claims, all the lynching comparisons, all the Jim Crow connections. All this relentless and constant categorizing of entire groups of diverse individual people (american citizens) and then with this recurring and obvious laser like focus - pigeonholing each and every individual person belonging to these enormously large groups of people, based strictly on race, ethnicity and gender. Yeah, while most rational and reasonable people recognize that there are racists who live in this country - these same rational and reasonable people understand that as long as America continues to be a country, there will probably always be racist people who dwell in this country. Why? Because there are racist people period. And they are living everywhere on planet earth.

I think Jordan Peterson needs to make another appearance in the thread. (In my mind, the video speaks to a very large portion of this entire thread)

Lastly: Cam, I am sorry to see the price you are surely paying on the board recently. in my opinion, the thoughts/opinions/views that you are expressing have been contaminated - and I am almost certain that I recognize the reason that they are now seen/read through the cloudy and blurred lenses of contamination. To say the least, that's really unfortunate.

If your method of achieving a voting demographic advantage is through de facto racial discrimination and you don't care, then that's racist in addition to politically abhorrent. But that's not actually the focal point of discussion. The focal point of discussion is if there is racially discriminatory practices in voting access where you live that benefits white people, that's an example of white privilege. Again, it doesn't matter what the motive is, as white privilege isn't about motive, but rather about outcomes. It helps to have basic familiarity with the concept you express bottomless disgust for.

Thanks, Ceeboo! I appreciate the bridge building you're attempting to do. See? Conservatives and Democrats can have an understanding, even though we vote very differently. For example, if I lived in Georgia I'd be voting line Democrat and Ms. Abrams would most certainly have my vote. I'd like to see my party be more inclusive and effective at uniting everyone instead of attempting to win through schism'ing and dividing the electorate.

*shrugs*

eta: I think I should add that ultimately what I'm getting at with these, uh, discussions is that the individual, once you take intersectionality to its logical conclusion, is the ultimate minority. Once you start parsing people out into specialized classes you, by default, have to take that parsing to its logical conclusion where you realize that people, the individual person, really has a tough go no matter their station in life. Everyone can and does experience varying degrees of bigotry in their lives and once you start getting into the details of their own obstacles in life (they're short, they're ugly, they're not a genius, they're not from a wealthy family, they're abused, they're *insert whatever thing it is that places them at odds with others*) intersectionality begins to fall apart as a concept. That's why I think unity in cause is much more important than assignation of victim status.

Doctor CamNC4Me wrote:Conservatives and Democrats can have an understanding, even though we vote very differently.

in my opinion, not only can there be an understanding - understandings do indeed exist among Conservatives and Democrats. Unfortunately, these understandings are very rarely discussed and these understandings are becoming the exception in and around American politics - not the rule. This is one of the factors, among many others, that has resulted in America finding itself in the very unstable and potentially devastating position of an unbridgeable political divide.
For example, if I lived in Georgia I'd be voting line Democrat and Ms. Abrams would most certainly have my vote.

Understood and I completely support and accept your individual right to cast your individual vote any way you see fit. And in doing so, I would not assume that your voting decision was based on racism, sexism, homophobia or nazism. Rather, I would consider the obvious possibility - and likelihood - that you cast your vote based on what you personally believe represents the best interest of America as well as all of the citizens who call America their home.

I'd like to see my party be more inclusive and effective at uniting everyone instead of attempting to win through schism'ing and dividing the electorate.

for what it's worth, I would also like to see my party (who has its own set of real problems) be more inclusive and effective at uniting (and reaching) everyone of our America citizens.
