Seek freedom and become captive of your desires...seek discipline and find your liberty I can tell if a person is judgmental just by looking at them what is chaos to the fly is normal to the spider - morticia addams If you're not upsetting idiots, you might be an idiot. - Ted Nugent
Individual freedom trumped by rural collectivists...
As soon as you concern yourself with the 'good' and 'bad' of your fellows, you create an opening in your heart for maliciousness to enter. Testing, competing with, and criticizing others weaken and defeat you. - O'Sensei
We have been told that we have the Electoral College to give small States a voice. But several small States such as Hawaii, Delaware, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Vermont did not go with the 2016 popular vote loser. Link

So give the village idiots an unfair advantage?
In this case, the village idiot just might be the fellow who started this thread. Not only is no solution proposed to whatever problem he hints at, but his 'observation' fails to consider any condition that affects his statistic. Here's a simple example:
The United States government owns 47 percent of all land in the West. In some states, including Oregon, Utah and Nevada, the majority of land is owned by the federal government. In Nevada, the Feds own around 86% of the land.
Alaska, which is 663,000 square miles, has fewer people than San Francisco, which is 49 square miles.
"The great problem of any civilization is how to rejuvenate itself without rebarbarization." - Will Durant "We've kept more promises than we've even made" - Donald Trump "Of what meaning is the world without mind? The question cannot exist." - Edwin Land
Canpakes, I am not sure what direction you are pointing with the map of federal land. Are you reminding us of the degree to which the United States has always been socialist? Is it this socialism which has kept us so miserably poor compared to say Argentina?

Seems to correspond to mountainous areas such as the Appalachians, the Rockies, and the Cascades, as well as deserts such as the Great Basin, the Mojave, and the Sonoran. Trump Secretary of the Interior Zinke, might be able to sell off Yellowstone if the Republicans retain control of Congress after the 2018 elections.
