From the review of Epperson's book, reflecting on an experience lecturing at BYU:

“In the end, I wondered why my hosts had gone to so much trouble to bring me to undergo so sustained and demeaning a public roast. I left with the impression that all the Mormons wanted to know about the Jews was why we are not Mormons.”

Hey! Welcome back Nevo! That was interesting reading all those Sunstone links to Neusner's ideas. The book review was very interesting. It's too bad Mormons don't have a continual dialogue honestly between Mormons and Jews instead of receiving the vain and rather ridiculous faith promoting baloney of Russell M. Nelson refuting a Jewish rabbi with Ezekiel 37...

Nevo, it was a delight to read these treasures—thank you for posting them—as well to see one of luminaries from the classical era of the board here. I especially enjoyed Neusner's letters on David Wright (Bokovoy's dissertation director, as I recall) and his critique of Sunstone. Enjoyable too, though not Neusner, was the letter from Colin Firth of Los Angeles (hahaha) in the February 1994 issue.

I encourage everyone to have a look at the July 1993 letter of D. B. Timmins, wherein we read of President John Taylor's "heroically anticipating the contributions of Heisenberg's Uncertainty principle, contemporary Chaos Theory, and Bell's Theorem." If Nibley was right about Brigham Young's being one of the great minds of the 19th century, surely his successor John Taylor belongs up there as well.

Does anyone know whether Werner Heisenberg had also trained in cabinetry?
