The title of the thread led me to believe it might be a bold prediction of the long-awaited return of Jesus, and thus the vengeful smiting of most of this board’s posters.

The further we get from the turn of the century, the less I hear of such things. Circa 1978, my favorite Institute teacher assured me that it would definitely happen within (maximum) 10 to 12 years of the year 2000, which was plenty of allowance for calendar inaccuracies and such. He maintained that the “no man knows the day” line was to be taken literally, and that the year was very knowable.

Peacemaker has admitted on this board that he is the poster bomgeography. Over the many posts he made here, he has claimed that the Hopewell are the Book of Mormon people and that the Michigan relics are authentic artifacts proving the Book of Mormon is true, despite being shown that they are a known hoax and that even the church admits they are hoax artifacts. He has repeatedly claimed that haplogroup x is proof of the Book of Mormon, despite being shown conclusively that such a claim is entirely wrong. It goes on and on. Peacemaker is the kind of individual that will deny reality when the facts are right in front of him. That he attacks McKenna, a survivor of child sexual molestation and victim of sexual abuse at the hands of the MTC president is simply disgusting. His response to those presenting facts to him about this matter is to tell them that they are lying for Satan. Something is wrong with peacemaker and his words do not help the church and are only bringing further discredit to himself.

Oh, by the way, in case you don't know, Joseph Smith didn't believe in a catalyst theory. He taught and expounded on a literal translation and interpretation. So also did his associates that were involved with the production of the Book of Abraham. All this is documented in the church historical records and other sources.

The catalyst theory is just an ad hoc excuse for Joseph Smith not knowing what he was talking about.

You need to keep in mind that supporters of the catalyst theory know more about what Joseph was claiming then Joseph did.
