Re: Kavanaugh and Perjury
Another penis wielding witness for Doc and Subs to consider.
Kavanaugh Was ‘Aggressive And Belligerent’ When Drunk, His Yale Roommate Says
Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s freshman roommate at Yale University came forward late Monday, describing Kavanaugh as “a heavy drinker” who became “aggressive and belligerent” when drunk.
James Roche, Kavanaugh’s roommate in Fall 1983, said in a statement posted on Twitter that they didn’t socialize together much, but would chat at night after Kavanaugh would return from outings with his friends.
“It is from this experience that I concluded that although Brett was normally reserved, he was a notably heavy drinker, even by the standards of the time, and that he became aggressive and belligerent when he was very drunk,” Roche said.
Roche said he issued the statement to support Deborah Ramirez, who was quoted in The New Yorker this week as saying Kavanaugh thrust his exposed penis at her at a college party. Roche said he and Ramirez became close friends at Yale, and she was “unusually honest and straightforward.”
“I cannot imagine her making this up,” he told ABC-7 News in California. “Based on my time with Brett, I believe that he and his social circle were capable of the actions that Debbie described.”
In The New Yorker article, Roche described Ramirez as “exceptionally honest and gentle.”
“I did not observe the specific incident in question, but I do remember Brett frequently drinking excessively and becoming incoherently drunk,” he said in his statement.
Roche’s recollection goes against what Kavanaugh told Fox News’ Martha MacCallum in an interview Monday night. He said he had never been drunk enough to forget any of his actions.

Re: Kavanaugh and Perjury
Understood, I'm just highly skeptical of the idea of the Democrats using the same playbook as the GOP and 1) being any good at it and 2) remaining committed to the platform. I've discussed this on the board before, and I probably frustrate some people with my naïveté, but I'm fully committed to Democrats using every legal loophole and legitimate strategy for regaining power. What I don't want to see is them (any more than they already do) stoop to the dishonesty, bad faith argumentation, and disenfranchisement I see in the current GOP. I get that they will probably have to do things I'm uncomfortable with to regain control, the deck is heavily stacked against them, I just hope we walk the line as close as we can and that we don't lose ourselves along the way. Some Schmo wrote:I hear you. It's just that a certain game has been underway in Washington for quite some time, and if the Democrats don't play by those rules, we're stuck with assholes who hardly even pretend to care about the American people.
I'll add that I don't think we are there yet, I'm just a bit worried for the future when I see people argue for regaining power by any means necessary (not your suggestion, just speaking generally here). I don't think The Republic is saved by two equally vile parties where one just has a slightly nicer platform.

Re: Kavanaugh and Perjury
Hatch dismissed Ramirez as a liar almost instantly after the allegation came out. I think it's because he sincerely cares about getting to the bottom of it.
Kavanaugh seems bent on rebutting consistent portrayals of him as a frat-bro douchebag. At a minimum, this has led to him flat out misleading about his year book entry. Why he'd torch his credibility in this moment is odd to me. In any case, he's also now made claims about his partying ways or lack of 'em that lots of people, like the above, should be able to confirm or deny.

Seems like the kind of thing that might come out by investigating items from his background check a bit further...EAllusion wrote:Hatch dismissed Ramirez as a liar almost instantly after the allegation came out. I think it's because he sincerely cares about getting to the bottom of it.

But we don't need an investigation. Who cares if it proves a Supreme Court judge is a bald faced liar? Doc says no investigation is needed because the cost of "destroying a man's career" far outweighs the benefit of freeing up one ninth of the Supreme Court over the next 30-40 years for someone with more integrity.

And what will an investigation, whatever that means, especially if it's not a fishing expedition (that's what Xeno believes), do you expect to turn up? And how will that impact a Republican President's support, the Republican-controlled Senate's support, and the GOP's base in, say, the next week?
I'll remind the kindly observer that Kavanaugh has had at least SIX background investigations, and had there been a pattern of misconduct it would've manifested by now. What he did or didn't do as a teen has exactly zero to do with him as a justice now, at least in terms of his security clearance.
Weird how Leftist morons keep thinking this is a political issue based on teenage or early college partying, when in reality you have a bigger code of conduct issue staring you right in your damned stupid faces. And yet, Kevin is still hung up on dicks and vaginas. damned, lol, unbelievable.

I favor opening up the background investigation, but I am skeptical they could find information to confirm or refute the allegations. The nature of what's claimed to have happened isn't amenable to that. Kavanaugh's periphral claims? Oh yeah, those could be figured out more. But I already know he's a liar. I don't need more confirmation of that, and nobody else does either.
His financial matters seem more plum to look into. But really, we're at a point now where his rulings on gender issues are going to provoke a legitimacy crisis in 5-4 splits. Republicans could appoint another hardcore social conservative no problem. I'm not sure if Kavanaugh's potential Trump loyalty is the sticking point, his pure partisan credibility, or just stubborness. Good politics would be to let the man resign his nom.

I've been told that rape is not about sex; it's about power.
This douche bag is a hair away from one of the powerful and prestigious positions in the country. I'll go with "stubborness" (at least on his part. Being stubborn was my main takeaway from the Fox News interview).
Plus, who knows how many women this guy has successfully raped? Could be a lot of potential offspring he doesn't want aborted going forward.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

moron, this does not prove Ford's accusations, because 1. you have no proof he was "drunk and belligerent" during the alleged incident, and 2 because even Atticus Finch knows your post is moronic.
