Wages hit 17 month High

That's the good news.

The bad news for Trump supporters is that this has nothing to do with Trump's tax cuts and more to do with 20 states increasing their minimum wages.

Minimum wage hikes across 20 states also have helped to boost traditionally lower wage roles, like those of bank tellers (up 7.5 percent) and bartenders (up 6.6 percent). Cities in states that pushed for a higher minimum wage also saw bigger pay growth, with San Francisco leading the way at an increase of 3.9 percent.

I read an article yesterday about "the real reason Amazon hiked wages" or something to that effect. The article seemed somewhat cynical about the move, but what was hilarious to me was that it was citing all the reasons increased wage proponents have been arguing for it for years, like those were bad things. Consumers will have more money to spend. Increase sales should help offset labor costs. It will help them compete better in the labor market. Etc etc.

I'm reading it thinking, well no crap. This is what I and many others have been saying for years now. Suddenly, it's become "corporate strategy."

How ever did these States manage to do such a thing without the Fed regulating it?

The federal government not mandating State behavior is, in fact, good news for Trump supporters.

for what it's worth, laissez faire (albeit a bit hybrid here) is kinda a policy...not an Obama policy for sure...but a policy..

OH WAIT! I almost forgot May 12, 2016:
"Trump: States should set minimum wage"
Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump argued Thursday night that states should set the minimum wage, saying some may want to raise it.

"I like letting the states set the minimum wage," Trump said during an interview on Fox News' "Hannity."

"New York is totally different than if you go to Alabama or Arkansas ... you're talking about a whole different cost of living," Trump said. "So what's good for New York is not necessarily good for somewhere else."

States have been raising minimum wages long before Trump arrived, moron. Stop acting like this is something that just happened because he allowed it or even suggested it.

Ooof. Can't you see he is saying that states should be just as free NOT to raise the MW as to raise it?

He is expressing no opinion as to whether the MW should go up, or even down in any given case.

I strongly suspect if unemployment wasn't so low (by any measure), and the economy wasn't "almost too good to be true"Amazon wouldn't have raised their minimum wage.

All the reasons stated are probably valid, except for this:

Consumers will have more money to spend. Increase sales should help offset labor costs.

The only companies that make money off their "employees" are MLMs like Amway and Lululemon. A slight uptick in sales for Amazon from their employees may introduce a barely perceptible offset to the increased labor costs, but it's not going to be an actual factor in the equation.

Idiot, it is not what happened but rather what did not happen...Federal interference. But hey, we get it...you're embarrassed about being wrong about your failed good news/bad news zinger....but please, insist you know Trump supporters better.

oh, and check your history on states raising minimum wage...would hate to see you make a dramatic overstatement on that as well.
