You have to be cynical or compromised as hell to be ok with that display just right out in the open. Fortunately for Republicans, people who consume their media won’t learn about it.

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter, right? One sidedness is short sightedness. You are promoting the most despicable anti-American sort of behavior imaginable. We don't weaponize the state. We don't use it to dig up private records and publish them in the NYT to win political races and undermine democracy. That's what happens in third world communist regimes. Here in USA we don't do that. But if you want to set that new precedent, ROFL. I guess we'll see how that works out. It's hypocrisy to act like Trump is somehow immoral or corrupt if he were to respond in kind. If you guys do it to him, I hope he does it to you. Every time you escalate, we will escalate to match your escalation. That's how this works. Or you could try to win on the merits of your position, but I guess you can't, so war it is.

Are you writing for the Onion now?

No. It is much worse for Republicans. You bypass the NYT and actual documents entirely. Instead you just make up falsehoods from whole cloth and present it as fact. Trump has used the state as a weapon for his political ambitions many times. Using his position to coerce private companies to fire or blackball private citizens who do not agree with him but simply exercise their first amendment rights (i.e. NFL players). He's been ruthless in this way all his life. All you have to do is throw flattery his way and he likes you. If you disagree with him he goes out of his way to destroy you any way he can.

That's what happens in third world communist regimes. Here in USA we don't do that. But if you want to set that new precedent, ROFL.

So you're saying we should spend millions on a half dozen bogus investigations over theories about Benghazi. But we shouldn't subpoena to get Trump's tax returns even though there is every reason in the world to believe it would reveal his corruption and criminal activity.

It's hypocrisy to act like Trump is somehow immoral or corrupt if he were to respond in kind. If you guys do it to him, I hope he does it to you. Every time you escalate, we will escalate to match your escalation.

We? At least you admit you're in cahoots with him. Trump has already been doing what you're now afraid the Democrats will do. You're acting like a pedantic little bitch who is too stupid to understand what true hypocrisy really is. Only someone as guilty as Trump must be would be acting this way, and only defenders who know he's probably guilty would act like you are right now.

Congress using its Constitutional oversight powers to investigate legitimate issues is not anti-American. Fishing expeditions like late stage Benghazi are unethical, but that’s not what is being referred to. Water Dog’s post completely glosses over the fact that Trump asserted he is aware of Democratic lawbreaking that he will use the Senate to investigate if they use their oversight power on the Trump admin. While that threat about knowing of unspecified issues is classic Trump BS and his understanding of how the Senate works is questionable, the thing about that threat is it suggests he is willing to overlook Democratic lawbreaking if they play ball with him.

If you have any sense of civic duty that’s a very bad thing to be saying. It’s Trump and his knack for saying the quiet part loud showing up again.

So, it looks like everyone I voted for was elected to office, and all the props with the exception of tossin' some money at teachers were passed.

Today's a good day. Real good.

What in the world is going on in Broward county?

Image

With a population of nearly 2M people, that adds up to a LOT of people who *snap* didn't care about the Senatorial race.

Yeah, I'll be curious to see what the recount shows.

Democrat Harley Rouda on Saturday claimed victory in the race for California’s 48th Congressional District, unseating 15-term incumbent Republican Rep. Dana Rohrabacher in one of the most anticipated House contests of the 2018 election cycle.

Rouda’s victory is sure to energize Democrats, who've galvanized to flip several House seats in the traditionally heavily Republican enclave of Orange County in southern California since 2016.

His win adds further padding to Democrats’ majority in the chamber after the party picked up 30 seats on Election Day, and it brings to a close the nearly three-decade tenure of the pro-Russia representative often referred to by critics as “Putin’s favorite congressman.”
