With Trump canceling on Putin, answers to these questions will have to wait.

Not really, friend. In the 28 years Republicans have held the Presidency they've racked up 120 criminal indictments of Executive Branch officials, 89 of which resulted in criminal convictions to include 34 prison sentences handed down.
This isn't including Trump. Are you aware of the current Executive Branch's numbers as of yesterday?

I remember Garrett Jackson (from Romney's campaign) suggesting that Trump better hope that a recording didn't exist of Trump urging Romney's presidential campaign (circa 2012?) to use birtherism because "rightwing crazies will believe it." But I don't remember this particular thing from Beck -- then again, he was kind of a whirlwind there for a while, so it's hard to really remember anything from him.
Glenn was set on Ted Cruz in the primary. He said DJT still held onto Democrat beliefs and ideology, since he'd only become a Republican recently. It was on talk radio and I quit listening to Glenn because of this. EAllusion said similar stuff about DJT during the primary along with things like DJT is the Republican 2016 primaries Herman Kaine moment and it would soon pass. DJT wasn't really getting much support from the right for his statement, "We're going to build a wall and make them pay for it," and other nonsense. Does anyone still believe DJT is a Democrat in disguise telling consrervatives what they want to hear?

So, in sum, what we are getting in proleptic defence of Trump and his entourage as the walls close in on them amounts to:
1. Yeah, but we don't care, because of the wall.
2. Obama! OBAMA!
Meanwhile, real people closely associated with Trump are on their way to prison. Real prison, with bars and high walls, for a long time.
Who will be next, do you think?

Well. Here's the current status of the crap storm that is known as the Trump Presidency Indictment Circus:

I suspect people involved with Deutsche Bank are probably up next. Bannon was right that all of this business is really about money laundering. Considering that Trump Tower Moscow is/was going to hand over a $50M penthouse to Putin really ought to tell you something about "doing business" with these people.

Well the house was in Russia. Couldn't Putin have just taken it if he wanted?

I'm sure he could have, and probably would have, even if Trump had not offered it whenever he felt it convenient to do so. Trump probably knows that, which is probably why he would have offered it in order to secure a multi-billion dollar deal (and quite likely Russian help in rigging the election in his favor).

I agree with Chap's OP, and whole heartedly with Res Ipsa that Doc's evaluation of it hit the nail right on the head. I also greatly enjoyed subgenius and Ajax's responses to it. It is always amusing to read the mental contortions they have to put themselves through to justify their hilarious, continuing, sycophantic worship of our embarrassingly ignorant, corrupt and idiotic President. It could be seen as brilliant satire, did they not expect to have their comments taken seriously!

If you take something it's perceived as weakness and short-sighted. Instead, if something is gifted to you it demonstrates a superior to subordinate relationship. It demonstrates respect. Think of it along the lines of showing deference to the godfather, whether you're kissing his ring, or bringing a prize. It cements a relationshio, whereas taking from another don would be an insult.
In this case, the relationship is mutually beneficial and since Trump's primary interest is making money, he doesn't care how he's perceived by subordinates, only by people who're stronger than him in as far as he can pursue his primary goal.
This is why he cowtows to the Saudi Prince and to Putin. They both are stronger than him, and they're both furthering his primary interest which is about his debt, his real estate ventures, and letting others launder money through it and Deutsche Bank because it serves everyone's purpose.
eta: I should add this is why Comey and now Mueller are so dangerous to him. They're both experts in mafia-type investigations that involve money laundering and related crimes. Trump isn't doing anything new, he's just doing it on a bigger stage with bigger players. It's not going to go well for him or his family.

I think you hit the nail on the head again, Doc! When put the way you just did, it becomes so clear. It becomes clearer with every passing month. I become increasingly amazed at how many of his core base still can't see it.
