Mississippi Learning.

Alabama (Attainment Rank: 45; Quality Rank: 40)
Arkansas (Attainment Rank: 47; Quality Rank: 34)
Louisiana (Attainment Rank: 48; Quality Rank: 47)
West Virginia (Attainment Rank: 50; Quality Rank: 42)
Mississippi (Attainment Rank: 49; Quality Rank: 50)

It seems the state where it newest senator who jokes about hanging and disenfranchising liberal college students is down the bottom of the education attainment ladder.

I'll admit i felt a little behind when i got to college coming out of WV public school. The school was definitely underfunded. I subconciusly brought into the yankee sreeotype that southern accents meant an individual was dumb and backward. That all changed when i got to Oprometry school. Some of the most brilliant professors on the planet had very thick Texas, AL, MS, and Georgia twang. I used to try to talk like i was from Wasington D.C. Now i purposely lay on the Southern accent when i'm not speaking spanish or Russian. Southern accents were my language of anatomy, physiology , and optics. And guess what. You might argue that sotherners have different values or disagree with their politics. Their IQs are just as high as anyone else contrary to liberal group think.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Indeed. As with Utah. And more's the tragedy. Every region has its darkness and hidden history. It lives in every person everywhere. I can somewhat understand the conservative Christian notion of humanity's "fallen nature".

I thought you were into IQ race science? One of the findings of IQ tests is that Southerners' IQ is lower. Lousianna's IQ is somewhere around 10 points lower than Massachusetts'. I'd say that's because IQ measures something that relates to educational opportunity and the regional differences represent differences in quality of education, but that hypothesis is looked low upon by the IQ race science crowd.

I do find it interesting.

Can you point me to the study? Did they break it down by race or income or was it just any human being living in Louisiana could be chosen to represent the state?

It's median IQ.

I don't think there's anything inherently dumb about Southerners. While IQ does measure mental aptitude, measures of it are dependent on things like educational opportunity despite what the race science crowd will tell you.

And still, there are IQ tests wars - while some rely on the IQ points, others just deny them and say that intelligence is a relative concept of a specific culture. Even the negative correlations with violent crime (somehow due to the high IQ index) are mostly questioned.
