Re: Trump's Beautiful Wall
What does this say about the stupidity of the people donating money to a cause that has no hope of actually happening? A host on FOX and Friends said he donated $200. And the GoFundMe company gets their cut of 4% of the total amount. In the event they do manage to raise the $5 billion, they'll still $200 million short.

and you can keep your doctor, amiright?
You can keep your own doctor if you do not get screwed over by your private insurance company.
Ok Obama was overly optimistic which was shown to be an error. There fore I am supposed to chow down Trump's excrement.
No.

No, but expressions of political naïvété as an adult shouldn't go unnoticed or unmocked.

Yeah! if only eminent domain or the Secure Land Act of 2006 existed.
EAllusion wrote: it would also cut off access to natural habitat for people and fauna in the area. I hear we share a major river system with Mexico as a substantial part of our border, but that might be a rumor.
Yep, the rio along Texas is definitely a hot tourist destination - for people...the "fauna" never much cared for playing in the water (perhaps another thread on the whole access for fauna notion?).

EAllusion wrote:The idea that the wall can realistically be funded with a gofundme raiser is so utterly ludicrous that it's almost sad that you think it's legitimate.
Pretty sure his post pointed elsewhere - bu you do you.

Unlike KG who thinks the GoFundMe commission sinks the whole deal....because no bank interest is possible.
EAllusion wrote: You are talking about an amount of wealth that dwarfs total spending on campaigning in presidential election years.
And yet $5b represents about 0.1 percent of national budget....dwarfs indeed.
EAllusion wrote:You think a unpopular political pet-cause that is largely symbolic to anyone who even half-understands the issue is going to raise that?
You have obviously never read any of the petitions on Change.org...or "We the People"....and yeah, those Californians thought they were going to secede, split, or otherwise get their way.
But hey, ignorance of the political meaning behind this GoFundMe is not really in your wheelhouse, so we got ya.

Hey genius. This is a response to a person arguing that the wall can be funded exclusively through private donations. The government seizing people's property is not a "private donation."

$5b doesn't fund the wall or maintenance of it. That number gets you to a whole lot of "the real wall was the friends we made along the way" apologia to deal with the lack of tangible wall. It's a made-up round number because it sounds good to yokels like you. It's also quite high compared to realistic fundraising. For that price tag you could also, you know, fund Republicans winning most elections for several election cycles.

This is about "winning". A gesture that demonstrates who the dominant ape is. It's a clash of symbols, not real.

A wall is also a way to block a thing from view so you don't have to deal with it. A screen as much as a shield. Once you start building these walls/screens, where will you stop?

Says the moron who thinks Trump is getting Mexico to pay for the wall.
