I care. That's approximately $150K of Chicago taxpayers' money that Smollett wasted on his idiot hoax.
I doubt it will happen, and I doubt it's legally feasible, but I hope Rahm makes good on his threat to sue Smollett. And I hope a few heads in the state's attorney's office roll for this.
Also crossing my fingers that the Feds choose to charge Smollett for mailing his own threatening letter in the mail. Perhaps they won't be bought like the state's attorney's office obviously was.
So why do you think folks like Res Ispa (the guy who retires from this board every other month) thinks Jussie is innocent, and, KG - who thinks no one is following this story, can pass over this gross racists injustice so easily? Would love to know from one who lives there (As a Fremd 75 graduate I still keep a home in Inverness!!) thinks the perspectives of RI and KG are ridiculous!?
(But as born and raised there - couldn’t agree you more!)

It's a matter of civic pride.
Smollett blows in from California only to be warmly embraced by the city. And how does he pay us back?
By claiming Chicago is a Trump-worshipping, homophobic, racist backwoods.
Then when it's undeniable that he paid two Nigerians (of all people) to scam us, instead of apologizing, admitting his screw-up, and paying back the taxpayers for wasting their money, he calls in a fix with an Obama friend and smirks off while maintaining his innocence.
So yeah, we're angry. Not because he's black or gay, but because he's a garbage human being who got preferential treatment.
Excuse me, but he wasn't convicted of any crimes. That means he's innocent and has been exonerated of all charges. Just ask the Trumpublicans.
Or maybe that principle only applies to rich white guys. (tongue firmly in cheek)

Ignorance and naïveté, as I’ve explained to Shades, will always be why the audience and participants of this board will never grow.

What is the relevance of Obama to your righteous anger? Including him seems odd to me.
“The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the dedicated communist, but people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction, true and false, no longer exists.”
― Hannah Arendt, The Origins of Totalitarianism, 1951

RI, she didn’t say it was Obama, she said, accurately, it was a friend of OBama. Your comprehension is truly your problem.
And this has been all over the news for days. Perhaps it’s now really time to give your fourth, no wait, fifth, no wait: how many farewell speeches have we heard from you?? Just go! What a putz!
