I probably find you just as annoying on this. Diabetes doesn't have to exist. The amount of sugar Americans eat is 20x as we did 100 years ago. We might be eating 1000x that we were eating 1000 years ago.

Yes, diabetes is relative to a lot of things.

If you cannot see that government, greed, and mortal weakness conspire to use sugar to sell food products and then sell us the cure, then this is a waste is time. Humans were never meant to have so much sugar, anymore then we were meant to use heroine. The amount of sugar we use today would kill the average human a thousand years ago. We grew a tolerance. But, we were not happy, so we refined it so it would hit the blood stream even faster and we put it in everything.

Diabetes isn't a disease, it's a rebellion. The resistance of the muscles and brain is the cells refusing to take more. The only real solution is reduce the amount of sugar our culture uses. There is no cute because there isn't anything wrong. Not really. The body is rebelling.

Of course, it may not be evident to you because, out of thousands of definitions of God, you may pick the straw-man logical fallacy of god as tyrannical grandpa in the sky, because it’s easiest to refute. Atheism is based on that strawman.

God is often defined as active faith and love - “strength” of a person or culture.
Philosopher Paul Tillech defined god as ultimate concern. The question isn’t whether or not you have an ultimate concern, but whether your ultimate concern is the highest GOoD or not.

It doesn’t matter how he defined it: he didn’t provide any evidence for anything.

But it’s clear that he wasn’t using your your reverse Tillich definition, as he was referring to the Gods of different cultures and not the ultimate concerns of individuals.

That’s a lot of factual assertions and knowing from a guy who claims that all facts are really fantasies and claims to know nothing. Or maybe it’s just a coincidence that the facts that aren’t fantasies are the ones that don’t threaten his faith?

See what I'm saying, Amore? According to SPG, the brute fact about diabetes is that its a resistance of the muscles and brain is the cells refusing to take more. The only real solution is reduce the amount of sugar. There is nothing relative about it at all.

But that is supported by your science. The concept of insulin resistance is that the muscles and the brain refuse to accept sugar. You can put more insulin to it to force it is but it only increases the resistance of the time. As in my case. I am very resistant. I'm a hard-ass even on a cellular level.

Yes, diabetes is relative to a lot of things.

And in another 1,000 years it'll probably be 10,000x what we're eating now, so you're not actually diabetic since it's all relative.

SPG wrote:But that is supported by your science.

Who cares what's supported by "our science?" It's all an illusion with no more power than what we choose to give it. You taught us that.

The concept of insulin resistance is that the muscles and the brain refuse to accept sugar.

That concept is just one more illusion among many. I learned from you that a "fact" isn't a fact at all.

You can put more insulin to it to force it is but it only increases the resistance of the time. As in my case. I am very resistant.

You are not resistant at all. Your so-called "resistance" is only an illusion, and you're only choosing to assume that you're resistant.

If you adopt as fact that you can drink all the Mountain Dew and Coca-Cola and eat all the Cold Stone Creamery ice cream and Cinnabon cinnamon rolls that you want, then that becomes "fact" for you. You taught me that.

So, why refrain from those (assumedly factually) delicious things?

It seems you guys are just coming at this from different angles. SPG seems to be considering science as well as the bigger & more subtle picture - as the body with a kind of mind - or intelligence - of its own.

diabetes: a disease in which the body’s ability to produce or respond to the hormone insulin is impaired, resulting in abnormal metabolism of carbohydrates and elevated levels of glucose in the blood and urine.

Insulin production or response is “impaired” - suggesting, in type II, that it wasn’t impaired before... “Type 2 diabetes can occur when the body becomes resistant to insulin. Cells are not able to absorb glucose as a result of this resistance. Excess abdominal fat is a major cause, in addition to genetics and lifestyle.”

Diabetes is relative to diet, genetics etc. But you’re missing the point that this thread’s implies: mind-body influence. Why is it that some really obese people who have horrible diets don’t get diabetes and some do - even in the same family - same genes? The first factor the FDA lists as tests medications must go through, is placebo effect - because the mind-body affect is powerful.

I won’t pretend to know all there is to know about metaphysics and how thoughts and feelings affect us at the subatomic level, but based on my own experience, I see truth in it. I don’t dismiss science behind diet, exercise etc., but I recognize the power of belief as part of the puzzle in my physiology.

Chinese medicine has explored this for longer and in greater detail, & if anyone has a similar CM link similar to the following link, please share.

I don't pretend to know either. Like you, I try to understand.

With recent research when we look into nature of the mind, we see that most of what we think of as existence is duplicated in our mind. When we feel compassion, we are not actually feeling the other person's emotions that rather duplicating them inside of ourselves. Down below the subconscious barrier is the sum total of our universe. What we believe absolutely affects it.

But as you pointed out, we didn't create all of it ourselves. Many of our beliefs and instincts for things developed by our ancestors. sounds right or wrong he might see his made man fasts in the functionality of those beliefs in our life.

There is a formal study calls the disease for your personality. For example, the self-sacrificing caretakers will often develop cancer. While ideas of self-sacrificing seems Noble, it can take an unhealthy toll on the body. And the selfish prick gets to live forever, sometimes.

Learning how to balance the stimulation in our culture is not just a job for us personally, but for our entire culture.

SPG,
I’ve read similarly - that metaphysically, cancer can partly stem from resentment (from self-sacrificing or other deep unexpressed pain) that “eats at you.” Other factors also play a part - genetics, excessive exposure to toxins, diet, etc.

I have found, as you’ve previously suggested, that when I face pain head on and discover some ugly truth that seems like a big brick wall, there’s always a “door” to more truth that offers healing and hope. But it’s a long, never-ending process it seems.

Are you familiar with positive disintegration and the shadow?

Oh no you don't, Amore:

dictionary wrote:diabetes: a disease in which the body’s ability to produce or respond to the hormone insulin is impaired, resulting in abnormal metabolism of carbohydrates and elevated levels of glucose in the blood and urine.

SPG wrote:Diabetes isn't a disease, it's a rebellion. The resistance of the muscles and brain is the cells refusing to take more.

But I called it correctly several posts up, wherein I pointed out that SPG is tripping over himself in pursuit of his real goal to define belief along the lines of will-to-power. SPG may in this instance be trying to have his cake and eat it too by constructing a political definition of diabetes that doesn't necessarily conflict with the scientific one he must take seriously. In the other thread, SPG admitted he can't do anything about the horse beneath him, but he can learn to control it.

In the mountain analogy, he can't believe the mountain is Swiss cheese and eat his way to the top, but he can look at the mountain as a big bully, and therein find the strength to defeat it. This has nothing to do with science being wrong about anything and religious belief winning.

(although if there is an award for best response, Shades gets it)
