Frankly, I don't really like many Mormons for that very reason = after having lived with them so long in the southwest, I know how they operate.

what on earth does this sentence mean?
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

I didn't post there much. I was a moderator there for a brief period in 2000, when I was 18. After claiming to care about me, Slick quietly kicked me off of the moderation team without ever having a conversation with me about it and ghosted me. He's not good at adult-ing.

I attended BYU as an evangelical and was married to a Mormon from 2003-2014. At one point, some of my blog posts came up and the residents of CARM began attacking me personally, so I posted there a bit to defend myself. But I was banned without comment or warning in less than a day. At least the threads attacking me were shut down.

I am re-married now to a Christian. Got my MA from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and am starting a Ph.D. there soon.

I'm so sorry for what happened to you. It is a traumatic experience to go through - getting kicked off the moderation team. Moderation over there is a really big problem. And then to get banned for something you had posted elsewhere - they have this rule that you can't mention them on the internet in a negative way. One Christian over there started a "free speech" apologetic forum after being suspended from CARM, and three of us (me included) were banned for a long time. Although, at that time I was allowed to come back, and the other two would but aren't interested now. I once read a book about a Christian gal who had gone to BYU and how much pressure was placed on her to convert. In the end, she didn't submit, and went on to write the book about her experiences there. It was a great book. So glad you're doing so well education-wise. Education is really the worst enemy of Mormonism - when people have to confront the facts about Joe Smith, they actually do have to make a decision whether to leave the LDS or stay. They have to choose whom they will serve! God bless you. And maybe you could post on Theologyweb which is another apologetic site and I posted there for years and never had any problems at all. I left there because I wanted to post about the temple endowments, and it wasn't allowed - and CARM didn't have that rule. However, Theologyweb is a little more "brainy" if you know what I mean. The Mormons there aren't allowed to make libelous statements and get away with it. Try it.

It means what it says. In the Southwest, when you are living among Mormons, there are typical social problems that one encounters. There is pressure put on people to become Mormons, especially in an employment setting if the company is Mormon owned and operated, or a majority of the employees are Mormons. Now, I worked in State government and had one client call me in tears asking me to get her out of a job where she was being so pressured to become Mormon, that she was at a breaking point. I actually was able to get her out of there and into something far better. Another client came appealing to me for help because her husband was being harassed by the Mormon security guards at an open pit mine where he worked, and he felt it was due to the fact he was Hispanic. I had another client, a gal, also come to me complaining about racial bias by Mormons (she also was Hispanic). You have to live there to understand. As I said, their ethics don't match Christian ethics. There is a lot of tension between the M M M groups (which means, Masons, Mormons and Mexicans). The cult has a heck of a lot of power in the southwest, and has no problem exerting it. There is bias and bigotry. I had one gal tell me that her Mormon mother slapped her in the face when they were out to lunch and a Native American came into the restaurant, and the daughter said that he was good looking - apparently Lamanites are to be shunned! I had a Native American come to me and ask me what a Lamanite was - he had been baptized on the rez when he was only 8, and had no clue what Mormonism was or why he was a Lamanite. I could go on and on, but I have had bad experiences with Mormons in a social setting - not all mind you, because my best friend there was a Mormon. But all this bologna about how Mormons are such wonderful people, blah, blah, blah, is just propaganda put out by SLC!

Hey Servant, you sound like a piece of crap. Everything you said about Mormons is not true or isolated to a few bad apples. Yes, their religion is stupid, but they as people are good people by and large. Go take your bitterness somewhere else.

I pretty much agree. For the most part Mormons in general are good people, such as you and I, when we were Mormons, right? Right! But when it comes to defending truth claims and apologetics -- all bets are off. Some of the worst kind of behavior is demonstrated by Mormons when it comes to defending their truth claims and history. Lies, lies, and lying.

Jesus Christ!

Hey Servant, baby, you do like the drama, don't you?

Maybe Jesus will return this year and rapture you up? You know the second coming is certainly overdue. It's been 2,000 years. Add another 2,000 years, because he ain't coming, gurl,

He ain't just delaying his coming. He ain't coming.

I guess you don't believe the Lord, right? If I was you, I'd read a few books on the proof of the Resurrection of Christ. If Christ did overcome death, "baby," then you might also believe he's coming back. I'm an Anglican, and we don't talk about "rapture," and that sort of thing, other than reciting that Christ will come again in the Apostles' and Nicene creeds. He will come again for you, either when you die, or when he physically returns. There's a DVD on Amazon about Jesus' resurrection - go ahead and order it, and start to weigh the evidence for it. As for me, I believe in Him, and know He will wind up earthly affairs one day. But I have no idea of when He will, or exactly how. Try to use your brain and not your emotions. It really helps to have critical thinking skills, something I know Mormons or former Mormons have real trouble with.

I was never a Mormon, thank the Lord. I am an evangelical believer in Jesus, saved by His grace and mercy in 1972. I am a life-long Anglican. I prefer that denomination because it isn't "emotional," and caters to those who use brains not emotions to arrive at spiritual truths. I am a Continuing Anglican, which means I do not accept certain innovations the Anglicans have made in terms of ministry and sexual morality. Here's a summary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlZ1cto85rU

Anglicanism appeals to me because the church does have APOSTOLIC SUCCESSION from the Apostles. In other words, it has valid authority, something Mormons are always talking about, but don't have.

I don't need or want Jesus in my life. I don't like the Bible. I don't like the Bible god.

No thank you.
