The website that put the original out also has an article about how such blatant racist bs from the President makes Republicans cringe. But he seems to be doing this in a clumsy sort of strategic move to refocus the conversation where he wants it.

A tough time to be a Trump supporter

Conservatives who reluctantly support President Trump often try to pretend the daily outrage didn't happen, but yesterday's "go back" tweets were like his "both sides" comment on Charlottesville — a transgression that won't instantly fade, and can't be laughed off.

The bottom line: Trump is all-in on us-versus-them politics and does not care if he occasionally crosses the line into racism. Trump allies expect this to get worse, not better.

What happened: Trump attacked four young, female House Democrats of color who are U.S. citizens, three of whom were born in the U.S. — "a racist trope ... factually inaccurate," as the N.Y. Times put it.

"Republicans with a conscience are cringing," a Trump ally said. "He believes the more he puts 'The Squad' front and center, the better his re-election chances get."

A former White House official tried to explain Trump for a couple of texts and then just said: "It's insane."

One influential Democrat told me Trump had achieved a tactical win — stoking both his own base and Democrats' internal tensions: "His view is that he simply cannot go too far. The line doesn’t exist. ... I'm very worried."

It was all "massaged" tripe from the Daily Wire.

Frank Luntz and Rick Wilson are mentioning it, anyway. And there’s a point in it all, to a point. In a way it preaches to the choir but most of those moderates being referred to aren’t as susceptible to the efforts by Republicans to paint everything that a Democrat says as, ‘socialist’. They recognize that the claim has no teeth, especially given that Basers like subs couldn’t explain what that claim means or how it applies anyway (he has a hard enough time explaining and standing up for the idea of ‘Western Liberalism’).

The flip side to that is that we’re in a political age wherein too many folks drape themselves with political labels as an identity, as opposed to pushing the policies. The Trump Base that previously identified as ‘conservatives’ is the best example of that inasmuch as it doesn’t matter what ‘conservative’ ideals are violated by Trump; his Base see themselves as tribal members who will follow him regardless. They have no principled stand nor politically coherent core belief structure aside from whatever feeds their need to enable lashing out against a perceived enemy. Trump knows that and feeds them their bone-a-day. This latest bone has amounted to telling Americans that they’re not allowed to criticize him, and the Base will dutifully overlook the ramifications of Trump’s suggestion in order to blindly follow along, held in check by that leash of pride wrapped tight ‘round their necks.

Democrats would do well to take a look at their own squabbling and decide to approach their differences with a better sense of practicality, given that voting in America these days is more of an exercise in elevating base emotions over logical decision-making.

The reason Subs doesn't source is data is because he's not actually citing the poll itself but rather an idiotic spin by the Daily Wire.

From Axios: https://www.axios.com/alexandria-ocasio ... dfdf9.html

The poll — taken in May, before Speaker Pelosi's latest run-in with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the three other liberal House freshmen known as "The Squad" — included 1,003 likely general-election voters who are white and have two years or less of college education.

These are the "white, non-college voters" who embraced Donald Trump in 2016 but are needed by Democrats in swing House districts.

The group that took the poll shared the results with Axios on the condition that it not be named, because the group has to work with all parts of the party.

This right wing trick reminds me of 2008-2009 when FOX news kept referring to Obamacare as "Government run healthcare." They'd run polls showing how Americans didn't want it and then pretend that had anything to so with the ACA.

Today they're doing the same stupid crap except now they're playing around with the word "Socialism" their favorite dirty word. They then poll only those people who voted for Trump which they know tend to be less educated and will equate socialism with Stalinism. Then they write idiotic articles about how the country is rejecting Bernie Sanders because they don't like Socialism.

In reality, Bernie Sanders' proposals are popular.

The majority of Americans (56%) support Universal Healthcare

Two thirds of the country support progressive ideas such as free college tuition.

All Democrats do poorly among non-college educated whites. Joe Biden does poorly among them. It's a Republican demographic.

13% approval for Congress is about where it has been for years. It was worse during the Trump/Republican Congress era. People say they hate Congress, but they tend to like their individual Congressperson.

It is interesting. Each of the 435 House members represents a different geographic region of people across the country. Despite having a 13% approval rating, they are almost always re-elected - presumably because they do a good job representing their people. We love our own representatives, and apparently hate the rest. It's almost as if we love our own pocket of America, and hate the rest of the country.

The guy with zero American grandparents and multiple immigrant wives is telling people to "go back where they came from".

Incoherence, stupidity and racism go together. But you can bundle them all up under the "R" brand now. Might as well just change the R to T. T for Tea Party, Trump and Tyranny.

If you start with the premise that Trump is a irredeemable douche bag, all of his behavior is self-explanatory.

I love how there are suddenly several articles discussing the extent to which the media should call Trump a racist, like that's ever been a controversial subject.

The media is Trump's latest abused wife. They treat him way better than he deserves, and he continues to crap all over them, because he doesn't know any other way to behave. He's a colossal asshole, and dangerous, yet the media just treats him like a bad little boy.

You know we've entered another era when basic facts sound like liberal talking points to a significant minority of the country.
