Yes, there was absolutely zero difference in my calling Trump supporters racists and Trump actually being racist. None whatsoever.

When I read the question I did not read what does it mean to be a registered Republican. I read "what it means to call yourself a republican," and in the age of Trump, this was the image that immediately came to mind. I'm not talking about people who happen to be registered Republicans who don't vote for Trump (i.e. George Will, Justin Abash, etc). I'm obviously talking about anyone who would vote for Trump in 2020.

I stand by my comments. I'm tired of giving Trump supporter "Republicans" the benefit of the doubt. And if you're out there calling yourself a Republican and don't support Trump then you're talk is empty because it means nothing becxause the Republican party is Trump. His supporters don't deserve the benefit of the doubt it anymore. Not after 3 years of Trump's insane policies that attack minorities. It is enough to make anyone with the slightest shred of moral fiber to abandon him completely. So anyone out there bragging about being a Republican is basically bragging about being a Trump supporter since he is the King of Republicanism right now. And it is impossible to defend yourself as a Trump voter and not be a racist. Not at this point.

By Republican Standards, Almost Nothing Is Racist

Trump Is a Racist. If You Still Support Him, So Are You.

I think you should read the OP again and the exchanges that followed it. I'm a Republican who doesn't give two craps for Trump. I think he got elected because of Mueller, Hillary's poor campaign messaging and strategy, I think he had help from the Russians and I think that he knew it. I think he didn't win the election, I think he stole it.

That said. I remain a Republican for the time being. I plan to change my affiliation to Independent because I see that as more congruent with how I actually vote.

So. I appreciate your opinion, I support your right to voice it, I simply don't share and I think your delivery is as dicked up as Trump's is.

There's a children's book about that. It's called The Land of Many Colors. It was written by preschool aged children. Used it every school year.

Ouch. What happened to Sneetches? I don't remember any dismemberment in that one. Kindergarteners these days are tough.

 No, the Land of Many Colors isn't about dismemberment. It's about the principle he's describing. I think. I don't know Sneetches. Will look it up!

I'm just a guy posting a quip on a message forum full of anonymous posters. Trump is the President of the United States.

Why you keep comparing us to each other is a mystery to me.

I responded to the question in the OP, which doesn't require me reading what everyone else opined on the matter. I agree with the OP except I'd be more specific to Trump supporters and not just anyone with an R after their name on a registration list.

Yes, I firmly believe that Trump supporters at this time cannot sell their support for him convincingly while saying they're not racist.

Yep, everyone's a racist. The broader brush you use to paint this with, the more mainstream it will become.

What has your position got to do with your delivery?

Had you read the discussion you would have seen that Mr. Perfume softened his position after re-reading his OP. He basically said it was a knee jerk reaction. So you changed the goal posts to fit your position. At least you admit it.

Yes, I firmly believe that Trump supporters at this time cannot sell their support for him convincingly while saying they're not racist.

The OP was about Republicans. I'm a registered Republican. What of it? It has nothing to do with my identity. I am not a Trump supporter. I voice my opinions with my mouth and my vote. There are many more like me. Even if I were a Trump supporter I would criticize what I saw as criticism worthy. No one gets a free pass or the blind eye from me on account of party affiliation.

You’re never a waste of time, Jersey Girl. The book sounds wonderful. Sadly, in the real world the machete wielders don’t listen to the child that cries “STOP!”

Good grief, I didn't shift any goalposts. I stated my position clearly in my initial post and I elaborated in the follow up. I had no clue people would actually take it to mean those who don't vote Republican but keep calling themselves Republican anyway. You said you voted for Obama twice, so being a registered Republican doesn't mean anything if you've voting Democrat. Doc called you a Blue Dog Democrat and that's likely the case. I don't know why you're trying to move yourself in the middle of the cross-hairs of what I said when you should know damn well I don't consider you a racist. I interpreted the OP to be referring to people who call themselves Republican. You aren't Republican in any meaningful sense.
