This Bible study has been illuminating. If there's one thing we've learned, it's that you can't take it literally or seriously.

It's the religious version of the D&D Player's Handbook. Rough outline of the rules, but play the way you want.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

89 And when there comes to them a Book from Allah, confirming what is with them,- although from of old they had prayed for victory against those without Faith,- when there comes to them that which they (should) have recognised, they refuse to believe in it but the curse of Allah is on those without Faith.

90 Miserable is the price for which they have sold their souls, in that they deny (the revelation) which Allah has sent down, in insolent envy that Allah of His Grace should send it to any of His servants He pleases: Thus have they drawn on themselves Wrath upon Wrath. And humiliating is the punishment of those who reject Faith.

I have yet to see any compelling evidence or justification for concluding that the Judeo-Christian Bible is even the slightest bit more likely to be divinely inspired than anything else that has ever been written. That doesn't mean it is unworthy of study, however. It has had such a pervasive impact on human culture (especially Western culture) that no one raised in that culture can rightly claim to be truly educated who has doesn't have at least a passing familiarity with its contents. Along with the myths and fictional narratives and even nonsense found within it, one can also find genuine gems of wisdom, deep poetry, and bits of real history, and perhaps, most important, insight into the minds of the ancient authors who contributed to it and their contemporaries.

No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Hey Ceeboo,

Would you mind watching this video, and then help me relate to how the Biblical god fits into all of this? Like. What's the end game here?

I regret writing this. It was completely unfair to the Player's Handbook. It's a better book and doesn't lie about its own divinity.

First - I have seen other videos that were similar to this one. In addition, I have read a tad about things that relate to the video. Having said that, I can't even begin to express or convey how completely and utterly mind-bending these things are to me. I think we are stretching the human mind to its limits to even begin to grasp these distances, numbers and sizes. It literally makes my head hurt. Now that we have taken the human mind deep into serious levels of insanity at this point , we can add what might surely exist outside of the observable universe. It's all so fantastically beyond mind blowing!

So what can I do to help you relate the Biblical God fitting into all of this? Nothing. These things are so unbelievably beyond my human understanding and so monumentally outside of my grasp that I simply can not help you.

Yup, the Garden business makes little sense once you look at it coldly as an old story rather than treating it as sacred scripture.

Yes, if you "look at it coldly" then you forced to deliver a view like the one you have delivered. But, if you were to read it and allow the possibly to exist that there might be a deeper understanding in the story, you might find that there is an alternate understanding concerning the one you have come up with.

Chap:

Are you so inattentive that you think I have not been there, done that and got the T-shirt?

I suspect I have read the Genesis story considerably more often than you have, and have devoted more time to exploring the various diverse accounts of its significance delivered over the years.

....well, nice try, but no cigar.
 well, that sums up that.

There once was a book called the Bible
You only would read it if liable
It makes people dense
By making no sense
Overrating it has no real rival

Hello folks,

Numbers Chapter 21:4-9

As we read about Moses leading his people toward the promised land, we come across the story about the bronze snake. Could this be another story that is imbedded in the Old Testament that speaks of something to come - that is much, much more significant - hundreds of yeas later?

4They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea, to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way; 5they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!”
6Then the Lord sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died. 7The people came to Moses and said, “We sinned when we spoke against the Lord and against you. Pray that the Lord will take the snakes away from us.” So Moses prayed for the people.
8The Lord said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.” 9So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, they lived.

Make a bronze snake and put in on a pole and whoever looks at it will live?

Isaiah 45:22

22“Turn to me and be saved,
all you ends of the earth;
for I am God, and there is no other.

John 3:14-15 (Jesus says)

14"Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up
15that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”
