He has a made up story for every single topic. Between him and that Hamba Tuhan guy, I don't know which one lies more about their "in real life" experiences. He once told how when he was called to be the Young Men's president, there were only 3 boys active in his ward. After all of his miraculous visits and efforts, he had almost 100 boys active by the time he was released. Yeah....right  He's got an endless amount of those same types of stories too!

:surprised:

He must really like boys!

He tipped his hand.

this description by smac97 of the issues in the CES letter is quite fascinating.
This list was designed not to inform, but to maximize shock value. Through decontextualization and sensationalism. It was designed to foment anger, even hatred. Against the Church, and its doctrines, and its leaders, and its members. And it is effective at achieving these objectives.

Cheap shots presented for shock value. Presentism. Facile criticism. Misrepresentation by omission and distortion. A determined effort to keep these topics decontextualized and sensationalized. Sarcasm. No effort to study or meaningfully understand.

These are the tools of Runnells's trade.

Thanks,

-Smac

Wow. So not one single reference to a topic or problem, and no indication of where information can be found, just accusations that the issues noted represent “no effort to study,” and no effort to “meaningfully understand.” Plus an unwarranted attack on Runnels, that again bypasses the issues being presented.

Smac is really showing himself as panicked and desperate here. Does he really think a person will read his list of (obviously fabricated) problems with presentation, and mistake that for information about the actual issues? Anyone who reads his diatribes, with the exception of Scott Lloyd, maybe, will be put off by his attitude and investigate for themselves, so there is that to be grateful for, I suppose.

Jeremy Runnells wrote:Of all the issues, the Book of Abraham is the issue that has both fascinated and disturbed me the most. It is the issue that I’ve spent the most time researching because it offers a real insight into Joseph’s modus operandi as well as Joseph’s claim of being a translator. It is the smoking gun that has completely obliterated my testimony of Joseph Smith and his claims.

Me too.

I wonder if Smac can come up with an example of how the CES letter foments anger and hatred of church members as he has accused Jeremy of this in hist post.

I find it interesting that when apologists don't have any good answers to questions, they seem to get very defensive and angry. They lash out at the messenger and come up with very vague criticisms of tone and intent to deceive. You can see this in Pac Man's posts in this thread. He eventually got a temporary ban and the thread was closed.

The accusations against the CES Letter seem to match the things said against the Nauvoo Expositor. Both documents have been said to be full of lies but notbody seems to be able to point out any specifics. I guess they have no other choice but to use arguments from the bottom levels of this pyramid since they have nothing to offer from the top:

I have to tell you that life was great over there before Smac came back...now there is so much infighting and snarky crap it is hard to take. I could not participate on the Jeremy Runnells thread...just too frustrated so all I could do was give positives for the posts that Larsen and others made. I hate it that he has come back!

Yes, it was much more pleasant to read over there while Smac was on his hiatus. I wonder why he returned? Maybe Scott Lloyd called and begged him to come back.

Scott is his lap dog over there

I REALLY hate how Smac posts his long, awfully boring and tedious posts (broken up into dozens of pieces). I do think he does his best to just derail or disrupt and frustrate. At least many stand up to him now and even all of the believers don't support all his posts (except Scott of course who immediately "likes" every post he makes )

They have closed the thread down. Smac says he is a lawyer. Has he got a "not guilty" result for the church?

How the Hell would he know? They're inactive.

How the Hell would he know?

Because every member who is inactive in the entire Church is inactive because of desire to sin. duh.
