I doubt that gemli has actually read any of these "many books on atheism." If he has, let him name these books, with the names of their authors. I have urged gemli to read a book about the varieties of atheism. I would shocked if gemli even owns that book?

Midgley has this practice of putting critics name or handle in bold. He does not answer questions about the Book of Abraham. Show him examples of Facsimile 2 and he does not answer.

I would love gemli to list a few intellectuals, historians, authors, and so forth, who have informed opinions about the faith of Latter-day Saints, or about any version of Christian faith, that he has actually read. The fact is that anyone posting on a blog or board can make assertions like gemli does, without knowing a thing about much of anything. gemli keeps on demonstrating that he is such a one.

One should also note that it’s also ironic to ask gemli to list a few LDS “intellectuals” who have informed opinions on the faith of cojcolds on a blog supposedly ran by one, and commented upon by a handful of others, but gemli can’t seem to find any. Weird, huh?

Riskas was a wonderful but painful read - usually both at the same time. I would love to see what Riskas might write about love and relationships - he would probably argue in 400 pages that love is incoherent and illogical.

But anyway, he does make some incredibly strong points and I have yet to see any of his most salient points addressed head on by any Mopologist. Riskas’ fatal flaw is that he buries the lead something like 266 pages deep. Too many flanks along the way open for nitpicking.

Christiansen is an epic fail. He didn't touch Riskas, he was upset Riskas didn't write the book Christensen wished he had, and then critiqued a red herring/strawman all the way. That was no review of Riskas, that was avoiding Riskas almost entirely.
I take it I am correct then that you have utterly failed to actually read Riskas. And su MrStakhanovite took Riskas to task on Nielsen, but he sure didn't refute Riskas on how badly Riskas dismantled Mormonism now did he? Not a bit of it. Riskas decimated Mormon apologetics. That's the bottom line.

An excellent brief on both the weaknesses and solids of Riskas. I too lamented to him to rewrite it and make it far simpler, and more direct. He never did. I came to within a gnats hair of doing it for him at the time. His materials against the concept... the concept of Mormon interpretation of revelation is the most devastating thing I have read. I am truly not at all surprised apologists won't take him on head on with his Mormon materials.

gemli is a very timed, cowardly fellow. I doubt that he has whatever it would take to use coercive force. Keep in mind that he still hides his identity by posting as gemli because he did not want his Roman Catholic employers to know that he was a silly atheist for fear that he "services" would not be needed.
