This is still one of the craziest aspects of the Trump presidency. Foreign and domestic people looking to influence the US government, including people whose interests are opposed to Americans, hand giant piles of cash over directly to Donald Trump via buildings with his name on it in giant letters and successfully purchase that influence.
Republicans complain about aspects of the Trump presidency, but they are near 100% unified in being fine with this and, because Democrats spend their outrage on other things, the media covers it as vaguely unseemly, but business as usual. This is the sort of thing that would've been thought a bright line impeachable offense by near everyone not that long ago.
I forget which country, I think China maybe, has rented an entire floor in Trump Tower (?) and it sits empty. “F” it. I'll just google it.

Do you 100% trust the press these days? Did you see the Obama clip I posted upthread where he mocks the GOP regarding the mote/alligators? How do we know if the current President really suggested that as part of his rancid brain bleed or if someone is riffing off what Obama said in 2011 in order to skewer him? Not that he isn't able to skewer himself...

What did you find in the linked NYT article hard to swallow?
eta from the article:
This article is based on interviews with more than a dozen White House and administration officials directly involved in the events of that week in March. They were granted anonymity to describe sensitive conversations with the president and top officials in the government.
If I had to choose between a well composed NYT article claiming interviews with more than a dozen officials claiming to have been directly involved in the events of that week, and President Trump it's not hard for me to pick one more credible than the other.

I only heard quotes from the NYT article. I haven't read the article itself because I'm not subscribed. Has someone posted it?

I don't know much of anything about Fox News. They confirmed the quote from Donald "shoot 'em in the legs" Trump?
So do you think Trump came up with moat/alligators/snakes idea on his own? Do you think he might have heard Obama talk about it and didn't realize it was mockery/parody?

“A source who was in the room at the time confirmed the conversation about shooting migrants in the legs to Fox News late Tuesday.”
