The 10 poorest states are red states so why not screw them some more. I think cruelty is part of Trump's DNA.

Trump HAS TOLD FRIENDS THAT GUTTING MEDICARE COULD BE A FUN “SECOND-TERM PROJECT”
Republicans want Trump to deal with the exploding deficit by gutting the social safety net, and the president is reportedly receptive to the idea.
Eliminating Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, and public education has been a Republican wet dream for years. They would love to have Trump eliminate these programs. Doing so would hasten the far-right desire for the dissolution of America.

It is 9 out of the 10 states. New Mexico is among those 10 states, and NM is not a red state

The Democrats need to make Medicaid and Medicare big issues during the 2020 Presidential election if they want to defeat Trump.

Funny how a good portion of Libertarianism found its way into Koch-ran GOPhers.

In 1980, David Koch ran as the Libertarian Party’s vice-presidential candidate in 1980.
Let’s take a look at the 1980 Libertarian Party platform.
Here are just a few excerpts of the Libertarian Party platform that David Koch ran on in 1980:

“We favor the abolition of Medicare and Medicaid programs.”

Why are the hard right conservatives so hell bent on eliminating social security, Medicare, Medicaid and other programs that are meant to help people who are the most in need?
No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

To balance the money. You can't have those major tax cuts without some cut on the other side. While your military have power to wipe out the enemy several times over they are spending more. Private prisons need more inmates manufacturers of military hardware need more orders so in the first instance increase sentences and in the latter create more fears by suggesting the other side are developing better weapons. But then if you have folks in the enemy country at each others throats it is less costly. Why is Trump even talking to Putin when his weapons are being used to attack Ukraine?

I am unsure your blame put on Christianity Today is fair. Surveys keep finding horrifying percentages of Evangelicals who love Trump. Evangelical is not a unified anything however.
I wasn't referring to the magazine itself, but to Christianity more broadly. It does nothing to make people better. People bring any goodness they already have to the religion, not the other way around.
Wide religious support for Trump makes this very clear. In fact, I'd say many religious people use Trump as an excuse to justify their own douche bag nature.

It's damned nuts to me that we are suffering Trump right now because some people in this country wanted to outlaw abortion. A lot of these same people cry foul if you suggest gun control, saying people need to be able to protect themselves from a home intruder. Isn't that what a woman having an abortion is doing?
I guess the right wing solution is to let the baby be born, bring it home, and then shoot that intruder.
