Fantasyland: The History of America's Irrationality

I stumbled upon this presentation this morning. With the turn of a new year and a new decade as we review the past and look forward to the future, this review is a very interesting review of America's complex mixtures of differing individuals perspectives of reality.

I think it is undisputed that there are some crazy theories and sentiments held by certain percentages of people out there in the ether. So, what are we to do about it other than use logic to combat these theories? There seems to be a universe where authoritarians could call any objection to their aims and/or crimes as "conspiracy theory" in order to stamp out any dissent. One could easily imagine Pres. Trump using this tool to kill any dissent to his silly wall or to questioning his recent killing of the Iranian general. The democrats aren't above this either. So, I think open discussion and as much disclosure of the facts as is possible, then allowing broad debate is the answer. Silly views, like Mormonism or scientology or flat earthers, are an unfortunate byproduct of a free and open society.
