Looks like an interesting article - similar to one I read about how Eastern European groups converted to Judaism - and possibly intermarried. But realize Abraham, the founder of Judaism - was from Ur (modern day Iraq). And from even later art, Jews were not white.

Wow! Thanks for the link to that article, Doc! That is one of the most interesting articles about ethnicity I have ever read. It clarifies for me a lot of things about Jewish and middle Eastern history and ethnicity that I was unsure about or completely in the dark about. Before I read it, I had only a vague idea about what was meant by the term "Ashkenazi Jews", their relationship to other Jews in general, and the origins of Yiddish. I think the author made a convincing case for the Ashkenazi not being any less indigenously Jewish than other Jews.

I'm still not sure, though, that the Zionist movement and the establishment of the modern nation of Israel was, on balance, the best thing, either for Jews and Palestinians already living in the region. I wish the Jews and the Palestinians could agree to settle their differences and animosity towards each other, and cooperate in establishing a nation that guarantees equality and mutual respect and freedom of religion for all. Sadly, there seems to be little chance of that happening any time soon.

Not that I'm invested in Jewish affairs, because to be honest I care about Israel and zionism about as much as I care about the Kurds and Kurdistan, but I kinda wish they would've settled in Africa or perhaps Madagascar. I read this wiki article one time:

and was astonished at all the different plans for a Jewish state. Anyway, I think it would've been better for the world if they hung their hat somewhere beside the Levant. Then again, I'm not Jewish or anyway related to any of that historical business, so I don't have a dog in the fight other than our government's overly dogmatic devotion to Israeli political aims.

Whatever the case may be the genie is out of the bottle and the only viable solution I can see is a two-state solution, but as we know the political nuance is such that that's a virtual impossibility. I think we'll continue to see the displacement of Palestinian populations by Israeli settlements and 'security' land grabs. It is what it is, and we'll probably be on the hook for tens in not hundreds of billions of dollars in foreign aid for the region.

I share your disgust with this so called "White genocide" nonsense. No race is threatened or endangered by voluntary intermingling or intermarriage between various "races", cultural or ethnic groups. I am not the slightest bit concerned about the fact that some choose mates from a group other than their own. We have neighbors and friends whose families are of mixed race, and they are no less likeable and valuable to us as friends as any all white or single race families we know, and their children are just as adorable.

For example, a few doors down from us is a family consisting of a Caucasian woman married to an East Indian man. We visit and eat dinner in each others' homes, share recipes, and my daughter helps them in their day care business. They invited us to go with them to an Indian festival at the local Sikh temple, and we had a wonderful time together, and they regularly attend the same LDS meetings my family goes to.

The elderly Asian couple next door to the west of us (the husband recently died) are the best, the kindest, and most generous neighbors we have ever had. On the other hand, the worst and most unpleasant neighbor I ever had was White, though we are on very amicable terms with the White family immediately to the East of us. My primary doctor is Philippine, my pharmacists are East Indian and Latino, and I get along with all of them just as well as I do with anyone else.

Like it or not, there is really nothing special about the White race that sets them apart as either better or worse than any other racial group or subgroup. The neighborhood I live in is quite diverse racially and culturally, with Latinos and East Indians being the most numerous non-white minorities. I don't find anything disturbing nor alarming about this, nor should I. We get along with all of them. Why shouldn't we?

Why should we be "on the hook?" Why shouldn't we just not send any foreign aid and let our tax dollars go to, oh, I don't know. . . the ones who paid them?
