I've been caught again
A long history of questionable campaign finance practices
Fox News reported in August that Waters has been using campaign funds to pay her daughter for well over a decade.
Since 2004, the campaign in turn reportedly has paid $750,000 to the congresswoman’s daughter, Karen Waters, or her public relations firm Progressive Connections for help producing them.
Waters also came under fire in October of 2018 for exchanging spots on her slate mailers for thousands in cash from state politicians. This strategy allowed her to get around federal campaign contribution limits.
The Washington Free Beacon pointed out that slate mailers have fallen out of favor in recent years.
The use of slate mailers, which are a common practice in states such as California and Oregon, have come under heavy scrutiny. Waters appears to be the only federal candidate to run a slate mailer operation from a federal committee, according to a search of the FEC’s database.
An FEC complaint was filed by The National Legal and Policy Center, but so far, Waters has yet to face any consequences for her shady dealings.
Nepotism at it’s finest
Karen Waters has benefitted greatly from her Mother’s campaign dollars, according to FEC filings. Of the $182,323 owed in total debts by Maxine Waters’ campaign this quarter, $133,022.15 of that is earmarked to be paid to Karen.
This amount is in addition to another $108,000 that Karen was paid during the midterm election. Karen Waters is profiting heavily from Maxine Waters’ campaign donations.
So what is Karen Waters being paid for? She’s been tasked with overseeing Waters’ slate mailers operations.
Additionally, according to the Free Beacon, the payments made to Karen Waters were the most paid out by Maxine Waters’ campaign committee for any activity this quarter.
Maxine Waters has woven a tangled web of shady financial dealings, and it’s finally catching up with her. Waters has refused to address the accusations, but the FEC complaints are piling up.

What do you think should happen to the Congresswoman, Ajax 1-Adolf 8-Hitler?

I was just taking care of my family. As a liberal black woman, I shouldn't be held to as high a standard as Trump because of white privilege.
But I do want to thank you for your unwavering support Doc.

Man, Democrats must be squeaky clean if you have to dig up an article a year old for a story that only circulates on extreme Right Wing hack sites, to insinuate a Democrat did something that isn't even illegal. Its almost like you're trying to deflect attention away from the racist conman who occupies the White House and who is breaking the law out in the open with reckless abandon.

Well, damn. In only 3 years, Trump has been able to direct 175 times more taxpayer money to his own family coffers from golf and vacation visits to his properties alone as Maxine has managed to do in her 15 years. She’d better get crackin’, because she’s gonna need another 2650 years to catch up to Trump’s 132 million dollars, even if he stops today.
That is some serious white orange privilege.

Re: I've been caught again
Strange timing that this showed up in the news today ...
The House Oversight Committee on Wednesday asked the Secret Service to provide a full accounting of its payments to President Trump’s private company after The Washington Post revealed that the Secret Service had been charged as much as $650 per night for rooms at Trump clubs.
In a letter to the Secret Service, signed by Chair Carolyn B. Maloney (D-N.Y.) and member Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.), the committee asked for records of payments to Trump properties, and copies of contracts between the Secret Service and Trump clubs.
Last week, The Post reported that the Secret Service had been charged nearly $400 and as much as $650 per night for rooms at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida, and charged $17,000 a month for a cottage that agents used at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey.
President Trump still owns his companies. These payments show he has an unprecedented — and largely hidden — business relationship with his own government.
Officials at President Trump’s company maintain that Trump and the firm do not profit when government officials stay at their properties.
“They stay at our properties for free — meaning, like, cost for housekeeping,” Eric Trump, who runs his father’s company day-to-day, said last year in an interview with Yahoo Finance. He estimated the charge per room was “50 bucks.”
The company also issued a statement to The Post saying: “We charge the U.S. Government simple cost and make zero profit.” It did not explain how it calculates those costs.
The charges revealed by The Post “raise serious concerns about the use of taxpayer dollars and raise questions about government spending at other Trump properties,” the letter said. Maloney took over the committee in November, following the death of former chairman Elijah E. Cummings (D-Md.).
The Secret Service did not respond to questions about the letter Wednesday morning.
