If human body parts were buried under snow
wouldn't it be a good idea to dump pet safe ice melt on the area instead of spending days poking an area with avalanche poles and then sifting a foot of snow in an area in which LE had a collection of favorable/positive tips and leads that remains or parts of remains (or even some other piece of critical evidence) might be dumped in a specific location particularly a roadside location?
Why doesn't LE do this? Why spend days upon days sending a 50-person search team out with poles, shovels and snow sifters with the FBI evidence response team vehicle standing by for days when they could easily dump pet safe ice melt on the area? Wouldn't that speed up the process?
Pet safe ice melt such as Safe Step won't burn remaining flesh or destroy a piece of evidence. So why don't they use it? If they're going to walk the area anyway, why not be sprinkling ice melt on it?
Shades? Any insight on this?

Are you sure it wouldn’t interfere with trace evidence?

Bodily fluids? I don't know.
Here's a product called Safe Paw.
Patented, dual-effect compound made of a modified crystalline amide core infused with special glycol admixture and traction agents quickly melts ice and is safe for pets, humans, vegetation and the environment.
Liquid component starts melting ice instantly while breaking surface tension and allows the crystal core to penetrate and destabilize ice which speeds up melting. Safe Paw also attracts solar heat to provide extra melting power during daylight hours.
Non-toxic, safe on asphalt, concrete brick and stone, and pavers with a proprietary tracking agent to prevent slips and falls.
Green color is easy to spot and distinguish from other ice melters. Safe Paw pellets cover twice the area of rock salt.
Time-release formula leaves an invisible “shield” that prevents the ice from sticking for up to 3 days. Use ahead or after the storm to make shoveling easier!
I don't know if that would dissolve blood or whatever...fingerprints? What else...medications? Chemical residue?
I don't know. That's why I'm asking.
They haven't said what they were looking for but they've invested days searching this one location and particularly at the roadside as if someone tossed something out of a car window.
I mean they could spread hay over the area and melt the snow. I don't see what harm that could do. At this point they're chopping the ground with shovels and poking through the area with avalanche poles. Taking buckets of snow and putting them through sifters.
Off to find a video.

How large of an area are you presuming to melt? and how deep does the melt go before frigid conditions create a nice re-freeze layer of ice?
Your notion is tantamount to using a bulldozer to find buried body parts.

LOL, Honestly, I am not making this up..I wrote pretty much wrote the same thing but decided not to send it in that her heart is in the right place,
I live in So Ca, and it was like 75 degrees today, and I had no idea what this stuff was, but I googled it and read the product data and just laughed, Uline sold it in max 50 lb bags. My thought was it would be similar to draining Lake Tahoe with a sponge, not to mention access and logistics.
You would have to get it in bulk, truck it in, and I guess have people spread it by hand.

As usual you don't know what you're talking about. It's always a good idea to read the thread. Access and logistics.

Oh and Markk? They already have it in trucks you base moron. Buy it in bulk.

LOL...how are they going to spread it and have access for the trucks where the 50 person search team with shovels are marching around with poles. But hey send them a letter and tell them your idea, I am sure they would appreciate it. The main area they are searching is 35 acres, but they are searching other remote areas, including submersibles in bodies of water, along with searchers on horseback and with dogs. Read the storyJG...so yes access and logistics are key to any remote operation, and melting dozens of acres of snow, in my opinion, would demand access (equipment) and Logistics (feeding the equipment with materials and manpower) .
