My personal read of Matthews at least, setting Carville aside, is he is in too deep worrying about what his opponents at the conservative news outlets say. He sees them praying the Democrats nominate Sanders because they assume they can easily convince Americans to not vote for a socialist, and he freaked out that the voters are playing into their hands.
He is lost in the partisan woods, though. Four years ago, his own network was burning incense and sending the universe good vibes hoping Republicans would nominate Trump because his nomination would mean a walk-in victory for Clinton compared to other Republican candidates.

I think it's more that he's very old Democrat who was an anti-communist hawk and thinks that Bernie represents the rise of the reds in America. He's off the deep end.

Did you see Matthews' "executed in central park" comments earlier this month? It's hard to read those as strategic worry that socialism won't play well in the sticks.
Running parallel to this effort, some conservatives have been experimenting with a scheme to exploit the credibility of local journalism. Over the past few years, hundreds of websites with innocuous-sounding names like the Arizona Monitor and The Kalamazoo Times have begun popping up. At first glance, they look like regular publications, complete with community notices and coverage of schools. But look closer and you’ll find that there are often no mastheads, few if any bylines, and no addresses for local offices. Many of them are organs of Republican lobbying groups; others belong to a mysterious company called Locality Labs, which is run by a conservative activist in Illinois. Readers are given no indication that these sites have political agendas—which is precisely what makes them valuable
I thought about starting a ‘2020 Elections’ thread to start dumping interconnected topical information, but since we’re in the Democrat primaries I stuck this here.
This is what Conservatives are doing now, which, I think is a matter time before the Left gets on board. And then it’s so beyond a crap show that I don’t know how we unfuck ourselves.

Every record...falsified, every book rewritten...every statue...has been renamed or torn down, every date...altered...the process is continuing...minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Ideology is always right.

Do you expect him to make it in the favor of his political opponents? History will be the final judge...we will have to wait. But there is not doubt he broke up the Bush/Clinton monopoly.
If Biden some how gets in and win's, who knows, it may raise it's ugly head again. No doubt it is going to be interesting.

One would expect him to make the change in favor of his own campaign promise.
Rather, he has only deepened the swamp with his cabinet and Administration appointments, and has added a new layer of rot with his demands for loyalty over impartial fact-finding, and his need to exact revenge on employees that attempt to hew to the latter.

He made a promise to drain the swamp but only made it worse by being the most corrupt president. That shouldn't be a surprise by knowing just a little about the man before he decided to run.

He certainly did not break up any Clinton monopoly, and I disagree that there was some supposed Bush monopoly in the government.
