Jersey Girl started a fantasy cabinet thread a while back that parallels this:
Yes because I viewed the candidates on stage as a talent pool and not necessarily adversaries. Maybe I think weirdly. Maybe it's the Idealist in me that naturally thinks like -- "how could this be better?" or "if I could change the world, I'd..." but I don't always know how to get there. In any case, I don't disagree with the thrust of the NYT article. I think it's a brilliant strategy and one that could work. I'd like to see an innovative move for once in my life.
But I basically don't know jack about politics so I'm normally spitballing in my remarks or trying to figure things out by engaging/questioning the rest of you who are more well informed than I am.
And yet, there it is spelled out in the article.
Failure is not falling down but refusing to get up.

One idea in his piece is to create a new cabinet position: Secretary of National Infrastructure. It's an interesting idea, and if tied to goals to go green and get off carbon-based fuels in a time frame that saves society from decimation might be worth more thought. He suggested Steyer. Not sure if he is the best pick for that, but the suggestion of creating that position is one I'm liking.

Despite the snark that a Friedman byline causes to arise in me, I think this is a good idea. Besides aging infrastructure that needs attention now, we're going to have significant destruction of coastal infrastructure from sea level rise and modernization of our power grid.

I think the best strategy would be a Bernie/Abrams ticket.
According to 538 polling data of head to head match ups between the two, Bernie is leading in several battleground states that Trump won and he's close to even or dead even in others.
The most effective thing Sanders needs to do is calm the people the F down about the "Socialism" by making better explanations and assuring the people that the Right's attempt to equate his proposed policies with Cuba and Venezuela are disingenuous propaganda. I think once Bloomberg is out of the race he'll start dumping billions into the campaign to help.
Stacy Abrams is a very black and very intelligent woman, who represents a threat to Trump's racist base, but she would also drive the black vote for sure.

Dam.... you would think after the Democrats claim to cherish equality, homophobia, and woman’s rights the finalists of the party would look different...…
Let’s see....,, they have revoked 5 people of color, a gay guy, and several woman. All that’s left is 3 old millionaire white men......I’m totally confused!!!
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.
