Seriously.

Even the dumbest of the dumb people on social media are finally starting to come around and acknowledge the facts. Of course, their Orange President banning travel had a lot to do with it. It was amazing how quickly they went from talking about how this was a big Liberal hoax, a mild flu, a big nothing burger to now admitting that maybe they were just acting like conspiratorial idiots from the get go.

FOX News has done an about face and it is now talking about coronavirus like its a huge deal because now they get to manufacture a narrative about how Trump saved thousands of lives with his travel ban. Hannity is on tonight saying Obama never did a travel ban for H1N1 and insists that Trump's ban was the best and quickest thing he could have done to save lives.

Never mind that H1N1 began in the USA and so there was no harm to Americans by allowing Europeans to travel here. Coronavirus is a serious problem in Europe which is why it makes sense to do a travel ban, although it is a little too late. Hannity and Rove are also lambasting Biden for allegedly trying to profit off of the virus. Why did I even flip over to that channel...sigh...

Also, Obama's CDC was prepared for H1N1 and had testing ready within a month and a vaccines within 6 months. Maybe if Trump hadn't fired so many people who had experience with past pandemics we'd be better prepared.

But COVID-19 is a pandemic, and it will not pass over the world in days, rather it will last for many many months. And while we wait, we watch commerce and social intercourse grind to a halt.

I couldn't agree with you more. You really hit the nail on the head.

I'm not sure what to do right now. I can't find masks to buy anywhere to put on coughing patients. I guess I'm just going to have to send them home if they come in coughing. In spite of this craziness I've had record exam counts the past three days. Getting close enough to look at the retinas of 40+ people in a fairly international big town isn't exactly a safe job during this kind of thing. This really sucks. I wish so bad it would be over tomorrow and the economy could go back to the way it was going.

It's looking like the small convention I was volunteering at for the end of this month might get cancelled/postponed after all.

I love the organizers, but I really hope it does. Even a small convention is a bad idea right now.

Bet.

The World Health Organization officially characterized the spread of COVID-19 as a pandemic on March 11th.

Donald Trump's grandfather died in the 1918 pandemic, of which he was unaware. The 1918 flu pandemic came in 3 waves. Now a lot of the transmission problems came from men in boot camps and troop ships going off to the Great War, but the flu persisted for about 2 years. Many epidemiologists believe the virus mutated before the second wave, when most of the fatalities occurred.

I expect the mortality rate for COVID-19 to be less than the flu of 1918. But if you want to tell me that no Americans will be die of COVID-19 by the first Tuesday in November, I'd take that bet.

My partner is washing like surgeon in-between her patients. I don't know how practical that is for you, but something to consider.

President Trump fired the CDC's pandemic response team that President Obama had put in place after the Ebola outbreak in 2014. The federal government sat on their hands and STILL haven't given us the ability to simply test patients so we know what we're facing when they walk into an ER.

The federal government is dragging their feet implementing any kind of response to enforce social distancing or to release their stockpile of masks.

So on and so forth. Not that you really care about reality because, I dunno, illegals, or black welfare types, or socialism. Trump could inject a live baby with the coronases, on 5th Avenue, in broad daylight, with his dick and you’d just wait for Fox News to declare that a win against illegal evil vampire babies that can only be killed if the President skull "F"s them with coronas dick, on 5th Avenue, in broad daylight.

Naturally.

Yeah, I was kind of surprised. The state recommends that people exposed to confined cases self-quarantine for 14 days. That, to me, makes more sense.

Trump was exposed to a confirmed case. I do not know if that person is confined, but standard protocol would indicate that person should be. In an environment where testing is scarce, you might see why not going through with a test until symptoms appear might make sense. But our testing scarcity should not affect the President. It's the single most important job in government that directly interacts with a lot of the other most important jobs in government. The best possible response makes sense for them, and that would include early detection to watch for symptoms to treat and to prevent infectious spread through the upper echelons of the government.
