The Handmaid's Tale
Holy damned crap! If anyone wants to understand what it would be like if the Right Wing nuts in this country manage to turn us into a Theocracy, then this is the series you need to be watching right now on Hulu. I just binged through three full seasons over the past week.

Re: The Handmaid's Tale
The first season is one of the most perfect adaptations of a book that I've ever seen.
The second season was decent.
The third season had ADHD.

Re: The Handmaid's Tale
I haven't seen the series, but I definitely recommend the book. What I remember most was the writing style: The narrator begins by describing what it is like to survive in a totalitarian state. She does so by shutting out the horror of everything around her, and concentrating on the next the breath, the next step, the next day.
There is a kind of somnambulism, a sleep-walking dream that becomes her protective armor to get the narrator through the day. It is my favorite Margaret Atwood novel.
