Counterpoint - Trump lies about everything and anything, so maybe he's not taking it.
I assumed immediately that he was lying about this. There's no way his doctor would prescribe it to him.
ETA: I'm amused that I've become so cynical about his lies, that I automatically assume he's lying and we're not going to benefit from another of his great sounding but obviously outrageous lies. Oh, wouldn't it be great if he were taking a dangerous drug he wasn't prescribed (without medical supervision)?
*sigh*
I would not be terribly surprised if you are right about Trump lying about taking it daily, but he might actually be taking it. The number one reason is his colossal ego, which renders him incapable of admitting to ever having been mistaken about anything. So he might really believe that taking hydroxychloroquine will protect him from covid-19.
The number two reason is that
Trump apparently does have a tiny financial stake in a company that manufactures hydroxychloroquine, through a mutual fund in Sanofi, a French company that makes hydroxychloroquine. This would give Trump some incentive to say he is taking the drug, even if he really isn't, even though his stake in that company is admittedly rather small.
If he isn't really taking it, it would probably only be because his chief corona virus advisors have managed to cast some doubt in his mind about its safety, but that would not stop him from claiming to take it if he perceived some financial benefit from lying about it. We both know, after all, that he is a proven, pathological liar. Any who still deny that are either deeply delusional or liars themselves.
