Don't be surprised if the current FDA director gets thrown under the bus by Trump, despite having personally appointed him. It would be far from the first time that a Trump appointee got dismissed for reporting facts that Trump doesn't like.Jersey Girl wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 4:13 amThe flipping FDA warns against exactly what Trump is doing. Damn liberals and their irritating fact mentioning.
What am I missing here?

Wow... I've actually found something that I disagree with Gunnar on. How fun.Gunnar wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 2:50 amI would much rather see Trump voted out of office or be forced to resign in disgrace because of a growing realization of his ineptitude and corruption than have him die in office succeeded by his crony of miscreants with no real, constructive change in current political reality and the hearts and minds of the American people and their leaders. If Trump dies in office of covid-19, hydroxychloroquine or other natural or unnatural causes without Trumpism dying with him, we will not be much better off than we are now, and may quickly become even worse off, especially if Trump's death is perceived as martyrdom by his rabid, irrational base. How much horrible would it be if Trump dies in office only to be succeeded by someone just as ruthless and corrupt as he is, but without his incredible ignorance and incompetence, especially if he succeeds in being reelected to a second term before he dies?
I follow your point, but I suppose I just don't think anything can cure Trumpism except cutting off the head. Trumpism has been laying semi-dormant for a long time in this country; Trump didn't create it, he just exacerbated and made it more obvious. He has a way of giving crappy people a moment in the spotlight.
I don't see any kind of return to normalcy without getting rid of the moron at the top, the actual moron giving Trumpism its primary driving force of BS and distraction. It's not going to eliminate the morons, but it will render them largely leaderless. Nobody culls morons like Trump does. You get rid of him, and his supporters are just a bunch of disparate morons again with nobody to tell them which idiotic thoughts to focus on from one moment to the next. The rest of the GOP will go back to acting as though corruption is bad again, and most of them will claim they never liked/agreed with/respected Trump.
Frankly, I don't give a crap what the Trumpiest base think (in the sense that if I cared more, it might influence my thinking); they deserve all the suffering they've brought on themselves for all the suffering they brought on the world. They're without credibility and irredeemably selfish. How do you cure irrationality in the willfully ignorant?
And why should we care? There will always be morons as long as there are conscious beings. That's what the Trump's of the world will always rely on: other assholes and morons like them. And of course, there will always be kind people who take care of these assholes because they can't help themselves either.

It is refreshing and thought provoking to be challenged once in a while by someone as well informed and whom I respect as much as I do you. It can be a valuable check on my own thinking. Some Schmo wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 4:28 amWow... I've actually found something that I disagree with Gunnar on. How fun.
I follow your points too, and you may be right, but as you said, "Trumpism has been laying semi-dormant for a long time...". Once awakened by Trump, how can we be sure that merely cutting off the head, at this point, won't merely result ln one or more heads growing back to take its place, like cutting off the head of a hydra? We have to inform and change the hearts and minds of enough people to "cauterize the wound" and insure that monsters like Trump get decisively voted out or blocked.I follow your point, but I suppose I just don't think anything can cure Trumpism except cutting off the head. I hope you're right about all that, and you may be, but having gotten addicted to their gains acquired through Trump's corruption, I have doubts about how quickly they will go back to resisting or fighting corruption, or pretending to.I don't see any kind of return to normalcy without getting rid of the moron at the top, the actual moron giving Trumpism its primary driving force of BS and distraction. In case there were any side effects, I think the general public would notice if Trump starts to slur his words or his writing becomes erratic and incoherent.

Every drug has a colossal list of side effects that someone at some time once experienced. Any time you put a pill in your mouth it's an experiment to an extent. But I've seen enough people on the drug to know how often this happens in real life. The list of side effects come from the clinical trials and the FDA surveillance program. Not liberals.
You don't know that?
What are you concerned with Jersey Girl? Why shouldn't any American be able to take this drug in consultation with his physician? Do you want take a bet on what the outcome will be of DJT taking this drug?
Every one of you would like nothing more than to see DJT dead or disabled. So why this big bruhaha over him taking hydroxychloroquine? Are you worried he won't get corona virus and die? I don't understand why you care one way or the other.

The idea that Ajax is in the medical profession is hilarious / sad.

You see DJT as someone who fears death. I've never seen a man with more guts and determination. I've never seen a man more willing to take big risks. And the Republican party has certainly never seen anyone who just keeps winning.
I'll grant you that medicine has become very political. That's the part that is sad.The idea that Ajax is in the medical profession is hilarious / sad.

People like Erdogan, Orban, Putin, Trump, Maduro, Duterte, etc. aren't fearless men of great determination so much as unethical men with a cadre of enablers willing to do what more civic minded people would not have. Don't confuse a lack of scruples with talent or courage.
Anyway, personal anecdotes is no way to measure medical risk, no one thinks that hydroxchlorquine kills anyone who takes it, and it's irresponsible to encourage others to take a potentially dangerous medication for an off-label use with no evidence of efficacy and some reason to doubt it.

Agreed. After I wrote my post I started thinking, Seriously though... what if Gunnar's right?Gunnar wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 5:49 amIt is refreshing and thought provoking to be challenged once in a while by someone as well informed and whom I respect as much as I do you. You may be right. I suppose I take solace in the fact the several GOP pols have tried to be an alt-Trump and they all failed miserably. Maybe it's because you have to genuinely think like a four year-old, not just pretend to, to pull it off. Not just anyone can be a moron whisperer. I will never deny Trump's talent for having a natural gravitational pull on idiots. Getting stupid people to admire him is his one true power.I follow your points too, and you may be right, but as you said, "Trumpism has been laying semi-dormant for a long time...". Re: Good News! Trump is taking hydroxychloroquine!
I don't think it's true that everyone wants to see him dead. I do; no doubt about that. He, like the coronavirus, is a form of life I'm sure the world would be much better off without. Better that one moron die than a whole nation.
But I'm not making a big deal of him taking non-prescribed medicine. I highly doubt he is, but I'd love it if he actually were. I'd cram it down his throat personally if I had the chance.
That's an excellent clue that you're an idiot. He's the President. Is it really lost on you why people care if he lives or dies, whether they like him or not?I don't understand why you care one way or the other.
Trump losing his life to COVID-19 is the kind of cosmic justice that causes people to believe in god-like forces. It's too poetically justifiable to actually expect it to happen.
