What I want to know is why the officers haven't been arrested, charged, and jailed in conjunction with this crime. If my wife had been filmed doing the same exact thing she'd be in jail right now. I can see why people are upset. It's a shame institutional change can only happen with violent protests, looting, and wanton destruction of property. Government shouldn't have to be so intransigent that it takes this for change to happen.

Anyone want to share what they would do if they could create institutional changes?

I was just going to ask the same question about charging the officers. It looks like murder to me and probably to anyone who has seen the video. So, why the delay? Perhaps the involvement of the FBI has delayed things or perhaps there are too many chiefs on this one? However, those officers should be charged with murder in the end and if not MN really needs to fire those in charge.

As far as changes, body cams need to always be on when cops are on duty and control of the videos needs to be given to a community/govt group outside of police control. Also, the types of choking methods seen all too often on videos like these need to be outlawed. I don't know if they already are, but if not, cops need to be periodically screened to weed out the psychopaths. There also needs to be a change from the good guys bad guys paradigm where pretty much everyone except the cops are viewed as the bad guys.

The President just threatened to use the US military to start executing rioters. Seems bad.

I just heard (don't ask) that rioters have stormed the police station and set it on fire. I haven't checked this yet.

Several police stations have been abandoned, and at least one has been burned to the ground. The national guard is funneling in, which seems appropriate, and the President is threatening to take over the guard from the governor and shoot rioters, which is insane dystopia stuff.

This'll likely cause some conservative retrenchment just in time for a (quasi) election, but everything is bad all over, so who knows what that'll do.
