I think Dr. Peterson is saying that prophetic knowledge is not involved in the buying and selling of stocks by the Church.

I can't see anywhere that could be read that way. The sentence I've quoted is Peterson stating that people shouldn't be surprised by the lack of Prophetic inerrancy in the Church's investment strategy.

If there is another phrase that you think is Peterson being more explicit in saying the Prophet has nothing to do with the Church's investment strategy, please feel free to share it - and we can move on to discussing why the Prophet isn't involved in the investment strategy of such an eye wateringly large amount of member donations, and whether such lack of oversight constitutes gross negligence in the management of precious funds.

Here is how the Church explained what it does with tithing back in 2012
Tithing funds are used to support five key areas of activity:
Providing buildings or places of worship for members around the world. We have thousands of such buildings and continue to open more, sometimes several in a week.
Providing education programs, including support for our universities and our seminary and institute programs.
Supporting the Church’s worldwide missionary program.
Building and operating nearly 140 temples around the world and the administration of the world’s largest family history program.
Supporting the Church’s welfare programs and humanitarian aid, which serve people around the world — both members of the Church as well as those who are not members.

We now know, because of a whistleblower, that there was a 6th (and by far the most important) area of activity - hoarding money into a rainy day fund that was to be kept secret from members. Why didn't they explain that back in 2012? More tithing donations have ended up in the rainy day fund than have been expended on the other 5 areas combined.
