Yeah, Shades is cleaning up over there. And the reward for his command of logic and facts? A one-day banning.
But notice the power dynamic of that banning. It's by word only -- Shades has to comply or presumably a more serious technology-based ban will be imposed.

Moksha: This is more science than most critics can muster, is it not?

If you need a working hypothesis what about these two ideas:
Hypothesis #1 - Displays of peevishness by defenders will garner the most upvotes.
Hypothesis #2 - Displays of humor by outsiders will get the most downvotes.
Hope that helps.

Was your screen name Thumper by any chance?
You counted the upvotes? I suppose that is what puts the science in political science.Louis - Part of what I had in mind were the more than forty upvotes by Dr. Shades...

Louis used to post at the Shades board?Kiwi - As you of course know, Moksha, Lou was referring to your usual internet home.

I am forgetful too. So Kiwi's implication was that you were best buds with the FAIR board and would have praised it to the highest heavens if that misunderstanding as to which board you were talking about had not arisen, right?Louis - I may have. So what?

Lou can't read that, as it will harm the sensitive Holy Spirit in him and it will cease to function. The Holy Ghost is very sensitive, and cannot abide in a filthy vessel, so Lou must keep clean and not read anythin except church related materials, oh....... and Sic et Non, of course, where the Holy Ghost resides in pure power. :rolleyes:Dr Cam
Big Baby Lyin’ Lou caught lyin’ yet again:
“Shades runs what Shades runs, which has no rules.”
Here are the rules, which Lyin’ Lou Midgley apparently didn’t read:

Lyin' Lou continues to swim in the waters of hypocrisy with this missive to Moksha when discussing gemli's character:
"Even you should realize that it is wrong to imagine something about someone about whom one knows essentially nothing and then suspect something about that person."
Oh, the irony!

I used to think that the Midgey the Mopologist was making Mormons look bad, but I’ve concluded that if enough of Midgley’s posts are read, there is no way one can continue to think he represents any type of typical LDS member. At least I hope not. He is a completely unique goofball! He does make Peterson look bad, however, and I’m sure BYU doesn’t relish hearing about the utter joke their emeritus professor has become. The Maxwell Institute is far better off without members who write things like this:
Or this hysterical definition of love among the non believing:
Louis Midgley Moksha 11 hours ago
I have only used a "screen name" once, and it was for one day on fake Dr. Walter Martin's daughter's board--Professor Peterson will remember a month when we both posted on that thing. For a day I was both Louis Midgley and also a Maori, and this threw those jerks into fits. Then my wife gently admonished me to cease, which I instantly did.
Then for something like two months that dreadful board had two or three dim items posted a week, until Dan turned up and introduced himself, and said "now let the attacks begin," and they did. In an hour there were at least fifty typically stupid Fundamentalist countercult type attacks posted on that thing. It was amusing for a few weeks and then that board was shut down by its owner. Dan answered someone whose screen name was something like DimWit46, and each time Dan responded to this fellow, he dropped one of his number until he was DW3 or 4. But that was a very brief episode in our lives

Come on, really? If you don’t believe in god, then love is only “erotic”? Although I did see him say that because gemli doesn’t believe in god he doesn’t know why rape is wrong, so I suppose this convoluted nonsense is more of the same.
You are confused about this. What you "suspect gemli would advocate for Human love and understanding" may like be merely love in the sense of "making love"--that is, wanting to "make love" with x or y, or merely erotic love, and certainly not in the sense that the highest attribute of the divine is love. And the reason is that gemli, despite his not having a demonic disposition, still flatly rejects God's love. In addition, I don't think that you are in a position to say who God will find acceptable.

I'm not sure how to classify this, but Big Baby Lyin' Lou Midgley seems to think Trump is simply "gregarious" with women:
"I will now also add that Trump has shown himself as what you describe as "fairly gregarious" especially with various women, though not so much with his current trophy wife."
I think it's worth pointing out that Trump now has 25 women accusing him of sexual assault:
https://www.businessinsider.com/women-a ... st-2017-12
This is in addition to his statements about various women that are anything but "gregarious":
https://theweek.com/articles/655770/61- ... bout-women
And we also have, under sworn testimony, Ivanka Trump revealing that Trump RAPED her.

Gregarious!
BYU professor. Mormon priesthood holder. Stolen valor. Tone deaf idiot.

Re: Rules of Patheos: Midgley appears to violate TOS 10x
What astounds me when I read some of the shenanigans of the LDS apologists from years ago, (as Lemmie quoted Dr. Midgley's description of his and Dr. Peterson's 'contributions' on some Protestant board back in what was probably their "hay day") ... is that they were almost certainly more concerned then, about being 'right' and about being 'clever' than about being kind, loving, respectful etc. Well, actually, that's not what surprises me. (And who can fault people being misguided ... I certainly can't!) What is shocking is that they seem to have not learned much, nor 'grown' in Christian awareness and Christian character in these many intervening years ... though Dr. Midgley does like to talk about learning during this mortal probation, and about being here on earth for purposes of sanctification.
Dr. Peterson often notes how he is uniquely vilified (and now he has Dr. Midgley sharing some of that rarified space). Does he really not see that there are many LDS thinkers, writers, educators, and even apologists ... who are genuinely liked, appreciated and respected? So many committed LDS advocates who don't draw negative feedback, but who are accepted for being the decent, intelligent individuals they are, despite fundamential disagreement in approach and interpretations, if not in core beliefs.
Does he (and do LCM and Kiwi57) not realize that the way they've treated people has made all the difference?
I realize that I'm beating a very old drum as I make these observations, but .... but what?? Maybe, "hope reigns eternal".

Can somebody with a greater imagination than I possess tell me why Midgley would troll an evangelical counter-cult forum as a Maori? What on earth is the connection?Mr. Midgley wrote:I have only used a "screen name" once, and it was for one day on fake Dr. Walter Martin's daughter's board--Professor Peterson will remember a month when we both posted on that thing. Exactly. When the apologists argue for God and Christian love as something impossible to achieve with secularism, could they point to one or two of their own posts as examples of this love in action, that just isn't possible for secularists?Paloma wrote:is that they were almost certainly more concerned then, about being 'right' and about being 'clever' than about being kind, loving,

For the same reason Ajax18, a racist and faithful Mormon, posts as Maxine Waters.

It's absolutely shameful: it amounts to a kind of "cyber-minstrelsy." If Midgley was looking to defuse criticism that he has problems with racism, he has just set himself back quite a ways.Gadianton wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 8:32 pmCan somebody with a greater imagination than I possess tell me why Midgley would troll an evangelical counter-cult forum as a Maori?
