Fake News Alert
Fox news in SLC is interviewing this roughed up guy behind a chyron that says "DOWNTOWN SLC PROTESTS TURN VIOLENT.” He told them he was beaten up for yelling “All lives matter,” but what they aren't telling you is that this guy parked his car in the middle of the street, pulled out a compound bow, nocked an arrow, screamed "All lives matter!" started pointing the bow at protesters, fired an arrow at someone who tried to tackle him, and then got beaten up.
ETA: Salt Lake Police Department said they’re looking at charges.

Re: Fake News Alert
This tired myth needed debunking. People seem to think the majority of protesters are hired guns from out of state. Records show that 86% of all arrests have been from state residents.

Re: Fake News Alert
Our local press was very clear that that the peaceful protest held today at our Westlake Park was peaceful, and that other groups were responsible for the property damage and confrontations with policy.

Arrests and instigators are distinct things, though. I'd love to know how many of the instigators are people from not in the area.

Re: Fake News Alert
So the actual demonstrators in question are acknowledged to be largely local, hence not sinister 'hired guns' from out of state. Just normal people who are indignant about something and are exercising their right to assemble and protest about it.
But now we have identified a new category, called 'instigators'. These are evidently the real bad guys. Without them, all the locals would have presumably have stayed at home watching TV, and there would have been no demonstrations.
Is there some kind of antibody test that will enable us to identify these sinister outsiders so that they can be dealt with as they deserve?

Chap there was a statement by the mayor of Minneapolis who said that virtually all those arrested in that city were non-residents. He's later retracted that statement and said that all (at that point) those arrested were from the area.Chap wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2020 8:17 amSo the actual demonstrators in question are acknowledged to be largely local, hence not sinister 'hired guns' from out of state. The Salt Lake news channels mentioned an officer throwing an elderly man with a cane down on the sidewalk. The newscaster for the CBS affiliate (KUTV) said he saw the footage. I want to know more about that story.

When civil disorder arises, there is a great attraction for local politicians in claiming that it is mainly due to 'outside agitators', at times even 'professional troublemakers', whoever they might be.Jersey Girl wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2020 8:36 amChap there was a statement by the mayor of Minneapolis who said that virtually all those arrested in that city were non-residents. That way, they get to denigrate the people on the street as much as they like, while refraining from appearing to criticise the good and civic-minded people on whom they will eventually depend for re-election.

Yeah, my wife and I watched that incident unfold on live tv. You’d have to be absolutely mental to insert yourself in the middle of a mob. I tried noticing the perp’s license plate as his car was flipped over and it seemed to be out of state, but I couldn’t really tell for sure (Utah has some pretty distinct standard issue plates).
Lol. A bow and arrow.
