Re: Fake News Alert
This doesn't help things. Why didn't the NYPD cops just back up and take a different route? Is that too much to ask or is assertion of authority always a must?

Never has this county needed a leader more and had less.
What's happening right now is essentially what I feared the day after Trump was elected. It was inevitable.

Re: Fake News Alert
I think outside agitators meant something a bit different in 1961 or so in Mississippi than it does with the present situation. The first was clearly to delegitimize the protest. I think now some are concerned to separate protestors from arsonists and looters. With that wish some suggestions have been floated that white supremacist have encouraged, led in and organized efforts for the arson. I really do not yet know if that is anything more than wishful thinking. (arson?? God I hope that is not from members of our group)
I'd love to know how many of the instigators are people from not in the area.
So the actual demonstrators in question are acknowledged to be largely local, hence not sinister 'hired guns' from out of state. Just normal people who are indignant about something and are exercising their right to assemble and protest about it.
But now we have identified a new category, called 'instigators'. These are evidently the real bad guys. Without them, all the locals would have presumably have stayed at home watching TV, and there would have been no demonstrations.
Is there some kind of antibody test that will enable us to identify these sinister outsiders so that they can be dealt with as they deserve?

Instigators refers to people who actively start rioting. The ones who throw the first bricks. Set buildings to fire, etc. Arrests of protesters does not equal these people. The "out of state" comments being debunked are clearly in reference to that body of people, so general arrest data alone cannot refute that. That's why I said it'd be nice to know who they are. Maybe you think a person who gets arrested for having the temerity to sit on the ground and get beat up by police is one in the same with a person who deliberately sets fire to a Starbucks, but I think there's a conceptual difference and it'd be nice to know how those numbers break down.

Re: Fake News Alert
"Antifa" reminds me of an old MASH episode, where Hawkeye and Trapper just make up another doctor in camp named Capt. Tuttle, and after a while, everyone claims to have had an experience with him.
People organically get together and share BS stories until they become real to them. It just takes a couple of wise asses to get it started. That's why religion so popular.
To say Antifa did anything as an organization is to be a damned moron, unless you're referring to the right wing nonsense peddlers who give it life.
