I think this is where it is worth pointing out that I have on dozens and dozens occasions responded to potentially dangerous incidents where either the police were called or would ordinarily be called if a specialist like me did not exist. Your hypothetical that you're amusing yourself with, in a sense, has already happened. And I'm just armed with my words. Like Sgt. Friday from Dragnet.
Psychology. Who would've guessed?
If I'm not mistaken you make pretty good money. Now can you find a thousand people with your ability to do this for $30k/year?
I'd still like to see you in action in Ferguson or Minneapolis unarmed of course. Assuming you could refrain from helping them trash the entire town, I think you'd demonstrate about as much courage as Scot Peterson demonstrated at Stoneman Douglas high school.
Ok. Disliking police misconduct definitely is a sign of cowardice, so you make a good point.
I think you're lowballing police wages by a fair amount. Like teachers, you appear to be confusing low opening salaries with what established careerists make. That said, I personally favor raising starting police wages specifically so the job is more attractive to a wider range of people to help root out some of the bully recruiting that happens. You get what you pay for.
Anyway, here's a long catalog of police abuse during the protests:
https://Twitter.com/chadloder/status/12 ... 8960922624
Cops beating up random citizens. Pepper spraying peaceful young children. Lighting up a cars stopped at intersections with pepper bullets. Attacking journalists. Deliberately walking up to people just walking to fire rubber bullets into them at point blank range. And more. It's got it all.
If I understand correctly, complaining about this makes you an anarchist, but if police ask a Trump associate a question they already know the answer to to see if he'll lie in the course of an investigation, then that's a major scandal that requires rooting out everyone from top to bottom. Is that it? Hard to imagine why people might be frustrated.

Meanwhile, Trump calls the brother of George Floyd apparently because someone told him he had to. The brother complained on CNN that Trump never let him speak, it was a fast phone call with Trump doing most of the talking.

Me too! I am as surprised as you are that you didn't think of it first. :biggrin:Some Schmo wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2020 2:57 pmMan, that's awful.
I can't believe you thought of this before I did. Hats off.
