The problem is that even if they were onto something real, they've lost all credibility. That's a broad problem for the right wing generally. They talk about teary-eyes liberals while they can't stop crying wolf and moaning out their grievances.

If you're a prisoner of war, what information are you allowed to give? Name, rank and serial number. More than American soldiers are allowed to give American citizens in front of the White House.Icarus wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 12:19 pmNameless Army Is Being Brought To Bear On D.C. Protesters
Federal law enforcement officers are operating on American streets without identification, which experts say breeds a culture of impunity.
WASHINGTON ― Just a few hundred feet north of the White House on Wednesday afternoon, armed agents of the federal government, dressed in a patchwork of colors and protective gear, stared down peaceful protesters demonstrating for Black lives. Yet what was perhaps most alarming was what was not visible on many of the officers: any insignia revealing their identity or even the name of the agency they work for.
...Critics say it also breeds government distrust and is reminiscent of authoritarian regimes.
If the idea of unidentified government forces attacking civilian protestors sounds like death squads in a South American banana republic, it's because that's exactly what it sounds like.

Ldsfaqs is fond of insisting that hard right conservatives are invariably right, and can do no evil or ever make mistakes, and claims or implies that liberals and/or Democrats can never do anything right or virtuous. Neither of those two extremes has ever been true of anyone. Neither liberals nor conservatives have a monopoly on either truth or error. No one is more likely to be fallible and even chronically mistaken than someone who claims to be infallible.Gunnar wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 2:08 amExactly so!Some Schmo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 1:56 am

I have often maintained that we need both liberals and conservatives. Together they form a negative feedback loop that insures continuing progress and preventing stagnation, while, at the same time, preventing society from speeding out of control and flying off the rails.

Absolutely. This country currently has no viable conservative party. They have taken eat, drink and be merry to a whole new level of death march.Gunnar wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 2:25 amI have often maintained that we need both liberals and conservatives. It sure seems that way. There are still some somewhat reasonable conservatives available, like George Conway (Kellyanne's husband, ironically), Rick Wilson, Steve Schmidt and the other members of the Lincoln Project, but they are unfortunately (for the most part) not currently involved in prominent government decision making. Some Schmo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 3:39 amAbsolutely. I freaking love the Lincoln Project's political ads. They certainly can't hurt.Gunnar wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 4:46 amIt sure seems that way. These guys are former strategists for the GOP. Good to have them fighting on the side of truth (and they do understand how to fight in politics). It's the only hope for the ultimate survival of the GOP.

I certainly agree with Dr. Peterson's assessment of Trump:
Trump is more than anything else, an opportunistic criminal hoping to enrich himself as much as possible from his Presidency, while at the same time insulating himself from any indictment or prosecution for his crimes.Mr. Trump is not a conservative. He never has been. He is a nationalist and a wannabe autocrat, among many other negative things:
